Gamespot

It is actually still around... Un-freaking-believable. I still want to give it a go, some of the awesome AI/environment features sound great.

And Duke Nukem: Forever will be released in my lifetime.

That said, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (is that an actual acronym?) would be fantastic to see and play. It's been one of those games I've had on my 'list'.
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

It would be crazy awesome if this game ever comes out and does even half the shit they aimed for.

Course, that's what I said two years ago.

Well it will be L&L alright...

The question is, is it Syndicate (late and lovely), or Daikatana (late and lame)?

The funny thing about Daikatana is that I didn't understand all the hype before it became a running joke and a byword in the gaming industry of obscene waste.

Nothing reported about it made me think it was something to look forward to. The concept was shit. STALKERs is good.

The hype surrounding Daikatana was entirely related to Romero, the chief developer. You see, the guy worked on Doom, and he whored the fuck out of that fact. That's how the hype was built, idiot fanboy gamers thought it would be a revolutionary as Doom was.

Not to mention the "John Romero will make you his bitch" advert.

I think that ad hurt, rather than helped, Daikatana :)

Please, it 'comes out' on your birthday. We can't buy vapourware. :)

I mean, I played a neat-looking alpha YEARS ago. That makes me sad.

Just awesome games I played an alpha of before HL2 came out that ruled the kasbah, looked awesome, and had OFP-level openness THAT STILL ISN'T OUT.

Okay, and a few other things. But definately that. :)

PS everyone should pull the stalker alpha off torrents. It's only a few 'test areas', and the one with bots is staggeringly hard, but you get levels, buildings, countryside, weapons, enemies, weather, etc.

Hey, it only took them 11 years to release Prey after announcing it in 1995, that means they've got 'til 2008 to get DNF done (officially announced in 1997).

Games with such long development cycles don't usually turn out well. Too many cooks in the kitchen and all that, and it also can mean a lack of comptetence and organizational skills. Even if it does come out, it probably won't be anything to write home about, considering it was supposed to compete with the likes of Half-Life 2 and not Bioshock.

Not quite. I hear they got Christ to come and do the launch party. We may have more of a wait.
