Wii Sims Teaser (and Game Screenshots)...

Electronic Arts did confirm that they were developing a Wii version of
The Sims earlier this month, and this looks to be an early peek at it, courtesy of Kotaku:

Can't really tell anything about it yet, but seems like it might have a little more of an
Animal Crossing flair to it. I think the new cute style is neat: I always thought
The Sims was lacking in terms of one. Plus it's awesome how much they look like Pinky Street figures.

If the gameplay is as good as the graphics are cute, that game is going to sell a lot of Wiis.

Hey,
screenshots of environments, character creation, and building control.

I think it would be better (as in: cuter) if it wasn't as blocky.
A+ for Target Audience, though.

Official site
I don't know one bit of Japanese, at least not in writing, but that game looks cute. I wonder how it plays compared to the PC games.
The official site is called "Boku-Sim", does that mean anything? It probably does, but what?

Not a game i´d play esspecially with that cute style but i can see how this style would appeal to a lot of sims fans.
I think the blocky thing actually adds to the cuteness because it reminds me of the pixel grafics i played as a kid.

I don't like this cute stuff. It's a shame because I want Nintendo to become as great as it was when I was a child once more, but I simply can't buy a game with graphics in that style as I am no longer a kid, and I view those graphics as quite childlike. I think my parents would question me if they walked in and saw me playing that game! :p
I hope the game sells well, I just wish there was an alternative 'adult' version so I could still justify buying a Wii. As it stands, I was thinking of buying a Wii because it is the only system that appealed in principle to me, but the games just aren't appealing to me enough at the moment.
Looks like the PC is going to get yet an other undeserved upgrade to satisfy my gaming needs.

No offense, but one way to tell whether someone in their late teens or early twenties is a young man and not still a child is that they don't run in terror from anything that appears childish. Why do you think nobody in middle or high school watches cartoons, yet lots of college people do?

This isn't a debate for me, so don't bother. I don't like 'cute' games, so I won't buy it. End of. Best of luck to Nintendo, and I hope you enjoy your console.
I've noticed a lot of testosterone from our console war friends on this forum in the last week so I will also extend a 'don't bother' to them as well - enjoy your games, but forgive me if I don't want to play them because my tastes don't conform.

Which is not your original complaint.
You want the old Nintendo back. Which will never happen, given what Sony did with the PSX. They applied the same tactic, and got the same result...in fact one can almost see history repeating itself, except Sony's third venture is not some ancient design. Nintendo will never have the capital to achieve this ever again unless both Sony and Microsoft somehow have a fallout of massive proportions.
And two, going "Fuck off my opinion", is something you should've learned will just earn you more ire in your general direction because it gives the appearance that you entered a topic to go "It SUX!".

"Boku" means "me" or "I" in Japanese.

I'm guessing here it will come off as Mii-Sim here in the states.

So the Wii is the only console with a playable version of the best selling game of all time?
If it's 10% as popular as the original, Nintendo just made a license to print money.
Let's persecute Ubiquitous because his 'tastes don't conform'. It's got nothing to do with the way he's hilariously lame and can't by a Nintendo because his parents might question his sexuality if they saw him play something with soft edges!

Yeah, those things do look a bit like Miis. Angular Miis, but still. Even if Wii Sports use one style of Mii doesn't mean third party games will depict them the same way. As long as the face is more or less the same it'll pass as a Mii.

Let's face it, the Sims crowd is going to love the Mii system.

That....is the awesome right there.
On the upside, this game will not disuade me from purchasing a Wii....
the lack of them available in my area because they keep selling out as soon as they come in stock is dissuading me.

They really don't look anything like Miis, though, and I don't think it really has anything to do with the Mii function, either, particularly since that seems more like a first-party thing. I can't see something called "Mii Sim," anyway. As a title, it doesn't work at all. The game also has it's own character deisgn system, as shown in the screenshots.
The actual title of the game is on the top of the official page between the two animated characters: Boku to Sim no Machi, which basically means "Me and Sims' Town."

Remember, this is the Japanese version. Have you seen the kind of games that sell well in Japan? This'll sell like hot cakes.

Tell that to Invader Zim-cancelling Nick suits. Cartoons are for kids, man, and they shouldn't have subtext.

Will the version be different for the Western world?

If they release this in the US, no. Revamping the graphics would just be a waste of time and money. Do you really have that much of an aversion to the style?
