So EA FINALLY releases the booster packs for BF2 on DVD. I pick them up tonight, install them. I try and play an Armored Fury map and the game tells me to download the fracking thing. What a bunch of fracking bullshit.

God, what a bunch of fuckups. I can't get the fucking add-ons to work.

I got the DL versions of Euro Forces and Armored Fury a while back. Armored Fury worked fine, since it was just released, but Euro Forces wouldn't, claiming I had modified content. I had to rerun the latest full patch to get it to work. But you've done that.

So, lets try this: Go into My Documents/BF2 and nuke the Dmp and mods folders. Then reapply the patch again. Note: you'll have to rebuild your shaders as well.

If that doesn't work, the can only suggest reinstalling the core game, then Special Forces, then your add-ons, and then the latest full patch. That might force it. And make sure you nuke the entire My Docs/BF2 folder first.

Edit: And whatever committee of assholes that decided to install add-ons this way needs to be put up against the wall and shot. Its fucking stupid.

I absolutely refuse to reinstall the game. This is EAs God damn fucking mess. I am not going to reinstall to fix their fucking mistakes.

wuh... what the shit? How the hell does that... is it telling you to download a map that original BF2 came with?? And how much did each booster cost?

I am trying to play a booster pack map, and its telling me to go download it after I already installed it.

Perhaps, but are your expectations realistic in this case? It's likely that you are simply wasting more time by leaving a message with EA Tech Supporting. They'll probably tell you to reinstall, and if you'll realize that you could have saved all this time by just biting the bullet, and doing just that.

I hope that isn't the case though. My point is just make sure your expectations are realistic.

Alyeska, you have to register the booster packs. Says so on the box. Of course, the manual also says that the installer will tell you how to do this, but I'm sure you noticed this never happened.

Oh, and the booster packs will only ever work with the screenname you register it with. So if other people in your house play BF2 and want to try the booster packs, they're fucked unless you let them use your profile.

Stupid answer. You do realize that if I wasn't online, I wouldn't have been able to search for any servers and actualy wouldn't have been able to login to BF2 at all.
