-Just installed explorer 7 and discovered that was a HUGE mistake. It removed all of my accessories programs, trashed my sound setup completely (i.e., no sound at all from anything on my comp.), and opened about 50 million security holes in my internet security settings.....

Mine's fine...

I don't use IE7 anyways, but it automatically updated to it.

-Do you guys use things like calc.exe, volume control, paint, etc.? You probably run XP... I run 2003 server which is probably the difference....

I fixed a problem for a customer yesterday where IE7 changed the proxy settings on installation, then would promptly crash whenever you tried to change the setting back. I had to rollback to IE6, change the setting, then re-install IE7.
