Are there any Mechwarrior: Dark Age or Mechwarrior: Age of Destruction players/fans/collectors on the fora?

Funny thing is that I was just about to try and start getting into the Battletech game (having been a fan of the universe for a long time) when Wizkids decided to press the reset button...

I try to play on a regular basis, but my work schedule has stopped me for the last two months.

Likewise. I just don't understand the appeal of this new nonsense. It's all downhill after 3050 IMO.

Okay, just what is the big problem with AOD? Half the CBT players I've run into act like Wizkids ran over their dog.

Because CBT is fun, has plenty of variety and strategy involved.

DA from everything I've seen is oversimplified and pretty much mindless. No laughing in triumph because you somehow managed to get your 20 ton stinger to knock an assault mech into water and get the pilot to drown due to cockpit damage.

Or cry because your 50 ton Centurion was taken out by a hydrofoil after downing a Jenner and a Wasp. Or watching an Assassin make a fool out of you with its ability to run circles around anything...

MegaMek is fun.

I've played both games, and while I have no real problem with CBT, it could do with some simplifying. Rolling for every bullet impact from an LBX-AC20? For one point of damage each, that might, if you're lucky, group up on one spot and hit something vital? I'm sorry, but stuff like that takes a game from fun to tedious. And, lack of variety? What do you mean by that? There's a pretty good spread of mechs, pilots, equipment, tanks, vehicles, and infantry with different capabilities, and the guys I play with are pretty damn good at changing up their battlegroups.
