The Link

Just a long parade of screenshots, with sparse info, showing some of the games we have to look forward to next year. I was very interested by some of the space sims I saw on there. But no Freespace 3 :( . And I won't be making any bets on which ones will actually come out, and which ones will end up being released in 2008 or later.

Wow, there's a ton of RPGs from "ex-Blizzard guys" in that list. I didn't know the next Combat Mission was coming out this year. The first sucked away a ton of time, and I missed the second one (thanks to Baldur's Gate 2 and NWN sucking away my time, IIRC).

I remember a lot of those games from the 2006 list.

Eschalon: Book I and Enosta also look interesting. Now if the page will ever finish loading...

My eyes might be faulty, but it looks like they missed Bioshock.

Which invalidates the whole list, as it's the single most important release of 2007 for me, it's been too fucking long since System Shock 2.

Edit: No, I just didn't scroll down far enough. Why bother splitting "multiplatform" games out from their genre, eh? Bloody Gamespot peanut gallery.

Because if you're a Xbox360 player and want to play Bioshock, it would NOT be worth it to be an PC gamer in 2007. :P

INHABITED ISLAND! HARD TO BE A GOD! NOT THE TIME FOR DRAGONS!

*does dance of joy*

Seriously, it's like all of my favorite books are available in game form. Can't wait!

Have a very nice day.

The new Combat Mission and World in Conflict are already on my list of games to get as well as the add on to Blitzkreig 2.

Fallout 3? I hope it is true.

I'm scared of how it'll come out with Bethesda behind it, they are'nt known for long and intricate plots or witty in-game repartee (Though the game should look amazing with an upgraded Oblivion engine).
I'd have been happier if they'd have bought the all but finished "Van Burren"/F3 build, finished it then began work on their own version of a sequel .

It's under the "Multiplatform" heading.

*spasms* 2007 promises to be a major year in gaming! What a perfect time it was to upgrade my rig! Fallout 3, Bioshock, Dragon Age, Armed Assault, Jagged Alliance 3D, Stalker and all those other releases make me want to abandon social life altogether! I mean Fallout 3 has been in the making since 2004 and Bethesda has always been good at keeping its release promises, right? . . . Right?

I really have to disagree with DEATH about Bethesda and plots in their games. Sure, they may be rather straightforward and simple, but they've always made an excellent job in fleshing out the gameworld with detailed and believeable background information. I'd be most worried about the characters.

I was going to list all the games that I hadn't heard of which looked cool, but the list was just too long.

Oh, and this video looks totally sweet.

Grumble mumble (Looks at increasingly outdated GPU and CPU and Hard drive) [/quote]

Right...:P

Sorry, I was unclear, they do make good background fluff, but the plots tend towards Black and white (Rather like Bioware games without Black isle output [Dark sider=Thug, Good=Idiot Paladin]), theres almost no speech/dialogues (Especially now that they've decided to add voice acting to every line, which is a hideous setback to massive amounts of dialogue as is the Fallout norm if you want it), the characters are'nt as interesting and they haven't shown the black humour so basic to the Fallout games.
Bah, I'll be the first to admit that I'm a big Fallout fan, so the chances are that nothing not made by Black Isle/obsidian or Bioware will satisfy me .

Also: Holy shit, Simon the Sorceror 4  :D hallelujah sweet adventureing Sujenus. That and Halo 2 + Jade empire are finally coming to the pc (Though I'll need to wait for someone to hack Halo 2 so that I can use it without Vista) :D

I seriously doubt Dragon Age will be out this year. In 1UP's preview, they state that Bioware is aiming for a winter 2007/spring 2008 release, and since games always get pushed back, I'll be happy if we have it by summer 2008. Dragon Age is definitely in the top three of my most wanted games list, right up there with Supreme Commander and Crysis.

And Bethesda was only one quarter late with Oblivion, so they'll probably be close. I just hope the main plot in Fallout 3 is better than Oblivion's (which is ashame, considering that Oblivion's sideplots were quite good).

Parts of this list look suspiciously similar to the 2006 list. Damn the gaming industry and their delays!

How is C&C3 going to be multi-platform? RTS games don't work on consoles.

They managed to get Battle for Middle Earth II on the 360. There's also the fact that the 360 uses USB ports, so it wouldn't be much of a stretch for people to use a mouse and keyboard setup.

As for why someone wouldn't just play on a PC instead, I don't have $1500 lying around to build a new computer with.

You say that but have game developers YET grown a brain stem and realize that they can attract many PC gamers and FPS'ers to their product if they just add this additional control scheme? Can it seriously be that difficult to add more menu's for the controls in games?

I cannot believe that they would say "you should totally buy a keyboard and mouse to play this game". They're going to hack it down to where the normal joypad is a good enough interface.

Do you play BfME2 on the 360? What's that like?

I have no answer for you. It couldn't be that hard, since 9 times out of 10 it's just a port and the original version obviously already has mouse and keyboard support. Maybe the best explanation is that they simply assume console gamers don't have either.

Of course, there are games where it makes no sense, like Dirge of Cerberus. Mouselook in a game where it automatically locks on to everything? Genius!

It was a very unimpressive game. I only mention it because while the game itself was meh, apparently they managed to port it effectively.
