Trust me, if this is as good as its predecessors, Resident Evil will look like a limp-dicked third-cousin who looks nothing like it.JLTucker wrote:Hmm. Sounds similar to Resident Evil.
Bioshock: Plane crashes
RE: Helicoptor crashes
Bioshock: Corpses
RE: Corpses
Bioshock: Mutated citizens ambush
RE: Zombies, also mutated, ambush.
However, it does seem interesting.
Bioshock comes from System Shock. Which was out way before the first RE ever came out. Also, every RE that has ever come out has been total steaming turd compared to the original System Shock, nevermind this beast.JLTucker wrote:Hmm. Sounds similar to Resident Evil.

Uh yeah, because base similarities...obviously aping on RE1.JLTucker wrote:Hmm. Sounds similar to Resident Evil.

Bioshock is basically System Shock 3, in a manner similar to how Perfect Dark is Goldeneye 2, except that the improvements will be considerably greater.JLTucker wrote:Hmm. Sounds similar to Resident Evil.
It's the only game I've ever played where something meant to be disturbing actually worked: the ghost who says goodbye to his kids them blows his brains out always freaked me out on the way to Shuttle Control.Bounty wrote:System Shock II is the only game I've never finished because it creeped me out too much. I can't think when I'm having a heart attack.
Didn't even get past the two-hour mark.
I was more disturbed by the ghosts and logs of the Von Braun's security going apeshit. Particularly the group of people in the mess who get executed by paranoid security officers. You walk-up and see the corpses, blood, and shell casings, then the scene is replayed. Chilling stuff.Stark wrote:It's the only game I've ever played where something meant to be disturbing actually worked: the ghost who says goodbye to his kids them blows his brains out always freaked me out on the way to Shuttle Control.
Not until DOOM did I find anything similar to what System Shock had.Adrian Laguna wrote:I was more disturbed by the ghosts and logs of the Von Braun's security going apeshit. I would hope they do both honestly. More people need to play a game that actually fucks with you visually and aurally versus cheap thrills we are used to today.Vympel wrote:I've said it everytime, the opportunity to remake the original System Shock with the BioShock engine simply can't be missed. SHODAN, for fuck's sake. You can't leave that sort of opportunity alone.
System Shock II was awesome too, but in terms of atmosphere, scaryness, and feeling so alone, the original was still the best.
RE2, RE4 and the remake disagree with this.Vympel wrote:

I think my analogy holds. It's a sequel in the same sense that Perfect Dark was a sequel to Goldeneye. This is what is called a "spiritual sequel" where the storyline and universe have jack to do with each other, but the core gameplay elements are essentially the same. I've seen the trailers to Bioshock, and have high hopes about it rivalling System Shock 2 in awesomeness.Vendetta wrote:It's only the sequel in the loosest sense. Storywise it's nothing to do with System Shock. It is, however, based on the same principles of open ended gameplay.
