Problem connecting my remote to Mac

After messing around with Virtual Console games, I figured I'd grab Darwiin Remote and use the Wii Remote to play games on a Mac. However, I can't get the remote to connect properly. With bluetooth on (and discoverable), using either of the connection methods (1+2 or sync) gives me the remote connect error 16. I can't find any actual documentation for Darwiin Remote, so I've got no idea what that even means.
