By the powers of the Pirate I be resurrecting the game Steam and Steel!

This is a trial attempt to see if I can bring about enough new life into a game, which in my opinion, was a wonderful concept and horribly short lived. A lot of us put a good deal of effort and thought into it and it is a shame to let it all go to waste.

Already I have contacted as many of the original players as possible and received quite a bit of positive feedback. However, for this to work, we'll still need a bit of help.

The last game suffered mostly from having one person in charge of everything while playing the game itself. This time around I am looking for anyone interested in entering into the roll of "NPC" nation, mainly to give the game more autonomy, as well as freeing up control.

As of now, I'll be in charge, but that can change depending on who comes back. I've sent out another round of PM's to those who are interested, but again newcomers are welcome as there is a lot of empty nations to fill.

Will the timer be reset to zero or started where we stopped ?

If Thirdfain isn't returning, it might be a good idea to restart, since most of the action was resting on him.

I think a restart, even if it's only from the beginning of the game is in order. Nothing much was accomplished before Thirdfain's disappearance ground things to an absolute halt.

Well, I wouldn't mind playing again, so...

Everything that was made for our Nations will be left in place, however the events will be restarted as Thirdfain did play a large role in the original game. So everyone who has made a nation can still have it.

There still will be many nations without people, so anyone who has any friends who might want to particpate, let me know. Remember, I'm looking for "NPC" players to help out with various aspects of the game so one person need not be in charge of everything.

I'll play, though I'd be sad that Thirdfain isn't there. He has a reputation of making STGODs interesting.

I just remembered something. Apparently Thirdfain had some game mechanics in mind for battles. He mentioned critical hits, each ship has various stats, etc. Even if he's not gonna play, it might be worth it to contact him and find-out what these mechanics were, since they apparently involved dice and stuff. Or we could just do this in traditional STGOD style.

Well, keep in mind this was/is my first SD.Net game, so mechanics and such are still new. That said we should lay out the ground work for such things.. Much of it stil lexists in the original threads luckily.

Im still trying to get a few others to pile on, also I'm going to write a few new thinsg since we are starting over. Many of you might wish to go back over the "point system" we had in terms of investment and getting new weapons of war.

Also all of the trade deals we had going will need to be reviewd and re-worked out.

At This point, Maps, Resources and Original Point spendatures are the same, If oy uwant to change some of your History/Fluff, you may.. but where trying to stick to the original set up.

I'm up for it, if I could figure out which islands are available.

Edit: Indo-china looks occupable. Very nice. Unless that's Sotrmbringer's domain. I can't tell, but if he took some island whose name I don't know I'm stealing it now.

Vietnam (in yellow if you can find any of the overall maps) was originally claimed by RedImperator. He showed no interest in the game after the initial nation description, so I guess there's no problem with you taking it should RI continue to not show interest.

Well, since Red never showed any interest, I'll just pray to the Lords he never looks at this thread and get to work on an OoB.

Well, I think I finally have incentive to finish my nation backstory. I never quite did because I don't know how to summarize.
