Ahhh, I feel proud of myself. My telephone company has made a very sweet move, allowing people like myself (I won't go into beaurocratic details) to change the speed of my ADSL line.

So I switched from 128/640 kbit to a 256/2048.

But that's not all. My internet bill will be about 30$ smaller.

Wohooo me!

There's no catch really. Only that I was a sucker for some time now.

Our telephone company was the first one that started to provide cheap ADSL over phone lines. Being an internet addict I applied when the very thing started a few years ago (about 7-9). Since no one provided something similar (that company, TPSA, owns and operates most of the phone connections and infrastructure in this country and is effectively a monopolist) they had free hand in setting prices, which were quite high. Years passed and some anti monopolist laws were passed, TPSA was fined, new ISP's emerged on the market and TPSA was forced to lower prices. Unfortunately I havent learnt of it until a few weeks ago.

So there's no catch. Im just going back to a normal rate after a few years of paying through the roof. To be honest, since Im still living with my parents, they did the paying so it did not occur to me to keep track of such stuff. I guess its part of the adult awareness to start noticing.
