Source is the Sony intranet. (That's a link to GAF, not the Sony intranet)

Mainstream media + blogs etc should get the story later today.

Why the fuck do we tolerate these stupid, one-liner, no-useful-information fanwhore threads? What this thread needs, more than anything is summarily locking or outright deletion.

But without threads like this, how could Xissy survive? The more he posts, the more I have to wonder if that quip about him being a Sony shill is true. Think about it, he's got the straight dope about Sony's latest moves before any news outlet even has a clue, but he's got nothing to back it up with (well, another forum now...with no other source other than the poster, who could be him for all we know). His source MUST be Sony itself!

By locking these threads, we'd take money out of the mouths of his children! Please, won't somebody think of the children?

£425?!?!? I bought a Wii the other week for £179. £425 is about half my net monthly wages!

What a rip-off.

Real article
Euro PS3 Details to be Revealed at Midnight
Overseas release date of March 23rd widely rumored.
By Patrick Klepek, 01/24/2007

The European press is starting to simultaneously report that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will announce the launch details for PlayStation 3 in that territory at midnight.

Popular speculation suggests PS3 will launch on March 23rd at a price of GBP 425 in the UK, which roughly translates to $840 in USD -- quite a price hike compared to $600 in the US, but not surprisingly considering the typical price of UK hardware. Sony has previously indicated the 20GB model would not find its way overseas, with consumers treated exclusively to the higher-end 60GB version.

Are these prices high enough for Sony to take a profit off of the sale itself, or is it actually that expensive?

And of course, Sony will be launching a console in Europe WITHOUT ANY FOOTBALL GAMES.

I'm sorry Sony, but you've lost. Admit it.

And will the European launch date also be the Australian launch date? I wonder? Do I care. No. Well I have to as its a responsibility for my radio show to care, but I don't really in the long run.

No football games? I wonder if there will be a Madden game them, to satisfy the tens of millions of NFL fans in Europe? ;)

I don't see what the problem is with this thread. I mean, all he's doing is telling you when the PS3 Euro launch date will be. For some people, that probably WILL be useful information. Although, if it IS completely unbacked up, then he is being useless.

Xisiqomelir seems to be on a roll, between this thread, his initially utterly useless (until Dominus Atheos, as in here, quoted and linked to a genuine article) PS3 firmware 1.5 update thread, and some rather stubborn asshat behavior in the latter part of the PS3 cost reduction thread.

They show it on sky sports a lot as well.

This happens to be released on my birthday.. which is my 21st.. which means I get an expensive present.

But it won't be a PS3, but rather something more worthwhile.

G&C can be relied on once again, I see. I don't think I've ever seen a larger collection of people who hated being informed of things in advance.

Anyway, here's your official PR as promised:
STRICTLY EMBARGOED UNTIL MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY 24th JANUARY GMT

PS3 to Launch in UK on 23rd March 2007
Over 30 Titles for Launch Period
1 Million units forecast for Initial European Launch Period

London, 24 January 2007 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe today announced that PLAYSTATION®3 will be launched in the PAL territories including the United Kingdom on 23rd March 2007 at a price of £425.

Responding to retail and consumer demand, SCEE confirmed that initially only the 60GB model would be available, with the 20GB model to follow later in the year dependent on demand.

An expected one million PS3 units will be made available during the initial launch period to all SCEE territories.

SCEE also announced a stellar launch line-up of over 30 game titles for PS3, including eagerly awaited titles published by SCEE such as Resistance: Fall of Man™, MotorStorm™, Genji™: Days of the Blade, FORMULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION and Ridge Racer™ 7. An exceptional range of titles in every genre will also be available at launch from the world’s leading third party publishers, including Electronic Arts, Activision, Namco Bandai, Sega, Take 2, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal, and Sony Online Entertainment.

In addition to games on disc, an exciting range of fully-featured downloadable games
will debut on the PLAYSTATION®Network. These will include gaming icons such as Tekken®: Dark Resurrection and Gran Turismo® HD Concept; the fully-featured PS3 debut of the best-selling franchise Gran Turismo, realised with full HD (1080p) visual quality. Created by Polyphony Digital Inc and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Gran Turismo® HD Concept has been downloaded by more than 350,000 users since it was released in December 2006 in North America and Japan.

Also available on the PLAYSTATION®Network will be brainteasers such as Go! Sudoku and Go! Puzzle, and innovative games such as Blast Factor™ and flOw™, designed exclusively for PLAYSTATION 3 and delivering on the promise to provide original content created by non-traditional developers and publishers.

Concurrent with the European launch, a new System Update to further enhance the entertainment potential of PS3 will be issued.

Announcing the launch details, Ray Maguire, SVP and MD of SCEUK said, “Following the hugely successful launches of PS3 in Japan and North America, we are absolutely delighted to be able to bring significant numbers of PS3 to the UK. To be able to launch with over 30 titles including retail versions and great downloadable gaming experiences across every genre shows that this is our strongest launch line-up in the history of PlayStation, and is what PlayStation fans in the UK have been crying out for.”

My understanding is that it still will be sold at a loss in Europe, but obviously a far lesser loss than in the US or Japan.

Oh cram a sock in it you jackass. We're tired of getting entire threads created with little blurbs which amount to you jizzing over the latest tidbit straight from Sony. We're tired of you getting pissy when people question you because you don't cite any sort of reliable sources in the first post, and frankly you've built up a lot of ill will in general with your asshattery in previous threads.

It's not the news, it's the messenger. I mean, seriously, would it KILL you to wait until you had a source to reference other than your boss at Sony, and NOT be a douche to people who don't get what you're talking about because you posted a whopping three lines about something with no reference or details?

But yes, it's us. We hate knowing things. That's why we're being jackasses. Not because you're a dick who creates worthless threads and gets pissy because we point out how worthless they are, and by extension, how worthless you are. Hey, isn't it time for a new thread about Sony? You'd better hurry up, or you won't make your quota for the day.

Is this what reading terrible VG sites like rumourtaku and joystiq do for your paranoia? "My bosses at Sony" =

By the way, my bosses at Sony wanted you guys to know this stuff for the other 2 consoles:

Wii:
-The Mario Party 8 delay from March to Q2 is so EAD can add online multiplayer
-Super Paper Mario is going to be released in April

360:
-Following its sellout week, Gears of War is at #8 on the Famitsu weekly chart
-The upcoming Namco announcement for 360 is going to be Ace Combat

So you're not bothering to argue with those who point out your content-free posting of late? You honestly think 'give us a reliable source dumbass' means we don't want to know? We hate 'knowing things in advance', even though we don't actually know shit beyond what some idiot somewhere said. WOW, that blows me the fuck away. We must all read some bullshit rumormill sites I've never heard of because we want an actual reliable quote or source - how does that even work inside your brain?

Then again, he DOES refer to the 'mainstream media + blogs etc'. Dear jesus.

Go go lame comebaku! That's right, clearly I must be out of my mind when I laughingly compare you to the useless shills Sony has used in the past due to your overall desire to imitate them. You know, by being useless. Truth is, Sony did use undercover people in forums and blogs, got flamed for it, and since your lips are so lovingly wrapped around Ken Kutaragi's cock, the insult seemed to fit. Please, however, do continue to protest over and over and over again because that just absolutely proves that the comparison is unfair. Here's a hint - I keep using it because it's pissing you off.
By the way, my bosses at Sony wanted you guys to know this stuff for the other 2 consoles:
OMG! Look! When he's confronted he provides information for gaming companies other than Sony! CLEARLY there's no way he could POSSIBLY be working for them now! I mean, my god, how could I have been so blind! It's not like someone TRYING to be covert would try to debunk anyone trying to blow their cover.

Oh. Wait.

Look, the whole thing started as a comment made in jest because your threads and posts were about as useful AS ones made by a covert Sony shill. Namely that they weren't. I do enjoy your ever so pathetic attempts to try and disprove me though. Good work. You're doing more to convince everyone else that you either are one, or so much of a Sony fanwhore that you might as well BE one anyway.

Regardless, however, your posts have been largely useless, and not because you've been giving us advance info, but because you've not substantiated ANY OF IT until AFTER you've been challenged, if you do it at all. When you do, you do so in an idiotic and insulting manner, like it's unreasonable that we ask you for sources for your little jizzspams.
Wii:

Oh look, MORE unsourced news. This is great! It's like you didn't understand a single fucking word we said! Man I love this shit. Here's a new shovel man, keep going. I look forward to the new transpacific chunnel.
