Behold genuine PR attention whoring from 3D Realms:

linky

"We tend to just do unconventional things in terms of PR," he said. "But we're starting to wake from our slumber and think about when and how best to show the game."
Has this guy ever realized that he is being laughed at by anyone who still gives a slightest damn about this game?

*pats Broussard on the back* Just let it go...its in the past...let it go and live your life on...[/quote]

What's this Duke Nukem Forever you speak of?

It's a vision.

It's a mirage.

It's the future.

it is a vision created by a subspace distortion that generated a phase veteron pulse.

It's Nostradamus' last prediction.

It is a prophecy. And lo, on the day the people of Iraq spoke as one and said "Thank you, George Bush", did Duke Nukem Forever come downeth from the Heavens, and grace us with its presence.

Bloody fucking bold-faced liars. That's a picture of the Duke Nukem action figure, and they know it.

Wow... I'd literally forgotten thinking, much less hearing, about this for years...

They said a few months back it was definately coming out in 2007.

Yeah, I didn't buy it then, either.

In 2007, George Broussard will make you his bitch.

Only a few months until April 27th, 2007: the 10th Anniversary of Development.

It took less time for NASA and its contractors to put a man on the moon then for 3DRealms to develop this game.

And guess what, they're already planning on making a sequel:
FiringSquad: Does 3D Realms have any games in mind after the release of Prey and DNF, or is the company concentrating on releasing these games first before starting new projects?

Scott Miller: We've already mapped out a sequel for Prey, from a high-level story standpoint, and of course as soon as Duke is done we'll begin a new one. We are also getting the ball rolling on an unannounced project, which has yet to be signed by a publisher.

The really great thing is that the name itself is just perfection. It's its own ironic joke. Like Hugh Jass.

Argh, choking on snort, laughed too loud...  .

I wonder if it's even possible to make any cash on this considering the development hours that must have been sunk into this thing, though it could be a case of net enough hours being allocated combined with a "Blizzard" like devotion to polish. Maybe, or maybe not :P

DNF is either the biggest hoax or the biggest scam (or both) in the history of the gaming industry. I refuse to believe that there has been an actual Duke Nukem game in development at 3D Realms for years; I think Broussard and whats-his-face have basically been dicking around having LAN parties and eating pizza for the past several years.

Someday we'll all wake up to forum posts around the world noting that the 3D Realms website has been replaced by a giant strobing "LOL PRANKD" GIF and Broussard having been last sighted boarding a plane for Tijuana. Lawyers will enter the 3D Realms "office" only to find a broken disco ball, a bunch of empty pop cans, a few centerfolds from the defunct "PCXL" magazine, and a small file cabinet full of thousands of receipts for strippers and pizza delivery.

look at how many times Duke Nukem Forever was gonna "come out".

I personally think DNF is a delusion that is being dreamed up by Benny Russell as part of his Badass Space Killer Adventurers.

I think there's a DNF. They had an in-game trailer a few years back of some crazy game that looked like a souped up version of Quake 2. It had a bunch of people being possessed by the same parasite-things from Resident Evil 4, and a lot of explosions followed by one-liners.

That version was of course, scrapped. But i'm sure it was real. Back then. :P

I guess it´s a pretty good PR Campaign. I mean, imagine how much attention 3d Realms gets by this and the only thing they have to do is send out a notification about a realase.
Great PR for free. Brilliant.

If DNF is ever released I'll almost certainly buy it.

So basically things in the game development field are the same as they were in the mid 1990s?

Early-mid 1999. I'm not sure what's sadder; the fact that Quake III was shown off at the same event, or the fact that Quake III, Team Wars, Quake 4 and very likely Enemy Territory: Quake Wars have beaten DNF to the market.

In some companies? Yes.
