BF2142 Help, constant CTD after patch 1.20

Ok, I recently installed the new patch 1.20 and now I can no longer play the game. I can log in and once I get to the BFHQ interface, I crash. Before 1.20, I was able to play but not anymore. I've tried everything possible, I've searched various forums but there seems to be no definite answer. I've defragmented my computer, I've uninstalled/reinstalled the game three times now and each time I installed the necessary patches (1.01, 1.05, 1.06, 1.10 and 1.20) but still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

Well, it seems like the patch on the EA website is crap. I downloaded 1.20 from a different link and it worked.

why'd you go on the website there's a (spyware-riddled)"EA Down loader" for a reason!

Tiger A8 for ftw

Broken patches are nothing uncommon of EA products and unfortunantly, many games these days. It's like its become taboo for developers to actually put the time into playtesting their games on an even basic level. Anyone else remember Gears of War and Call of Duty 3 on release? Unplayable. And still broken in some ways...

And as for Lonestar, Tiger A8 is indeed FTW. The Neko is nice, but inflexable. It's also impossible to use on inclines or uneven terrain because of the vehicle "slide" that has plauged the entire series since 1942.

But the Doragoon PAC gunship pwns em all. Evangelion plug cockpit FTW!

There's been many times I've downloaded BF2 patches from EA only to find that they're bad. This is one of the many reasons I pay for FilePlanet.

I prefer the Neko over the Tiger, even on uneven terrain (you just have to apply power to compensate for it). Circle strafing in a tank? Yes please!

But I honestly prefer slogging it out on foot in 2142. The ground turrets are more than capable of taking out any vehicle, and good use of motion mines will put a stop to any armored assault real fast. So, Baur-H with PK-74 Rocket attachment FTW!

That's what you get for playing EA games.

You're a fool, A8 provides stability that the Neko fails at. ;)

I really, really like the large numbers of unlocks available(though I think making frag grenades unlocks was a bit of a stretch...). I prefer the Voss, myself, but theny ou have to go up the other Assault chain... :x

The right assault chain itself is utterly worthless with the exception of the defib. The Advanced Med pack is ok, but its nothing to brag about. Smoke grenades are, god, I don't have words strong enough to describe how much they suck.

Meh, i'm more of Baur man myself. I prefer accuracy and hitting power to short range spamability.

But the instability makes other people miss me! They can't hit me if I'm sliding around in three dimensions.

I tried the Voss a couple weekends ago, when EA had the every unlock free deal. It's basically a clone of the Lambert. Its cool, but no more deadly than the Baur.

I couldn't agree more. Support is the only class where its worth unlocking both trees. The Engineer is almost worth it, except for the MANPAD, which is rarely needed (and I'll use a squad unlock on if I do need it).

If you really like snipping, I could see getting both trees as being useful, but I'm more of a spec-ops guy than a snipper, so I just went with demo packs, clock and Lambert.

I never could use the Lambert. Something about it just doesn't fly well with me. The Zeller is my baby. Sure it's not an insta kill weapon, but anyone who has less then 98% health is completely screwed by it. Anyone you don't kill with one shot from the Zeller can be pistol killed with ease. Also, the Zeller is REALLY dangerous at point blank range. I've killed clarks with it, seriously. On a shot for shot basis, you can carry a lot of ammo for it. I have never once been caught in low or depleted ammo situation with the Zeller.

I think the problem with the Lambert is that it sounds like its firing faster than what it actually is. I'd much have it than a sniper rifle when going on Demo runs.

While I respect good snipers, I don't like any of the sniper rifles. Beyond getting the head shot pin, I really haven't used them. They don't fit my play style, which definitely leans toward "Rambo". And for those times I do need to snip, usually to take out a pesky snipper so I can revive two or three guys, I find the PK-74 is more than up to the task.

Oh hell yes. Those rifle rockets eat snipers alive. Forces them to understand the concept of "displacement".

I have yet to be able to eyeball distance easily though, so normally I have to scope my Baur aim at the sniper, get back under cover, switch to rifle rockets and set it to what I had before. Especially if they are really far away(Like, on catwalks at Tunis Harbor or Camp Gibralter)

Should I give Lonestar my secret or not... *Flips coin* What the hell.

You know if top the rocket crosshair right on the obstacle/structure of the sniper is sitting behind/on, and then zoom in, the sight automatically calculates the distance to the target. Then you just have elevate your aim, increase the distance a meter or two, and fire. Just make sure the top/widest part of the crosshair is on the structure before you zoom in; if its even a pixel above, it will default to whatever structure is next in your line of sight, or 20 if nothing is there.

The problem is if it's a structure that is hard to eyeball before you zoom in(catwalks), ya dig?

I don't usually have a problem lining up catwalks and the like.
