Between the Microsoft Habu, Razer Copperhead and the Logitech G5, which one has the best overall performance?

The differences between the Copperhead and the Habu seem superficial (since Habu is based on Razer anyway). I've heard bad things about the G5, although I can't find any links. I would thus suggest the Razer, for having the best capabilities and the least stupid name. It does however have stupid glowly lights.

I actually got this anti-RSI (repititve stress injury) mouse to cut down on the wrist pains from using it, and it included an incredibly high DPI sensor to make movements as short as possible (as well as arranging the buttons vertically) and it works great for games. I wouldn't recommend getting a hardcore gaming mouse without looking at it's hardware specs and seeing if there's something else with the same benefit at a much lower cost.

As far as I can tell, aside from 'zomg huge scan rates' and 'toggle DPS', there is no reason to get a gaming mouse aside from number of buttons. The G5 having only one thumb button = the lose.

Mice is personal preference. You only need extra DPI if you're a high-sensitivity player and need that extra bit of precision and/or play a very high resolutions, and USB polling rates can be altered without having to get a new mouse. Getting zomg 2000 DPI so you have a higher sensitivity is retarded - increase your ingame sensitivity for that. Personally, I'd give ergonomics the most consideration in a mouse. There are many professional gamers who swear by the Microsoft Intellimouse, which is pretty unglamorous.

I've heard things about the Habu's firmware, and I'm not sure if those have been fixed yet. Both the Copperhead and G5 have their fans, if possible at all, you should actually try to test mice before buying them. I'm personally waiting for the Razer DeathAdder prices to go down; my Diamondback terribly uncomfortable.

Yeah, one of the things I really don't like about MS mice is their usually crap ergonomics: you're going to be holding the thing for ages, so it better be comfortable. The G5 loses me due to it's single thumb button, but I've never used a Copperhead myself so I'm not sure how good they are.

I also play at very high sensitivities, and I don't really see the role for DPS switching. People say 'oh good for fine movements', but I do fine and I think I'd just give up switching even if I had such a mouse.

Check out the Evoluent mouse for comfort, it's my ergonomic mouse. Besides being the most comfortable mouse I've ever used and having 4+scrollbutton amounts of fun, it only costs like 65 bucks or so. I think I got it for less via some deal or something. 50ish was the price I paid. It's also got a 2600 dpi if you wish to use it, which is pretty goddamn sexy. Only takes you a few minutes to get used to this. As someone who went from day on, day off of using the computer due to severe wrist pain (and couldn't even play FPS's anymore from it) this thing really saved my life. I was using an Intellimouse beforehand.

For what it's worth, I've got a Copperhead. Once you get used to the higher sensitivity, it's actually pretty nice.

I can't speak for the others by my Mx518 is a great mouse. I find that the adjustable resolution is nice, for sniping or as a rifleman in red orchestra I find a lower resolution good and in DoD:S I like to turn it up when I'm using a deployed machinegun. The two thumb buttons are great for back/forward navigation, and the resolution up/down buttons between the scroll wheel are easy to get at.

Its a very comfortable mouse, and doesn't light up, which I feel is a plus. One of my roommates thinks the mouse is too big, but I find it fits the hand very comfortably. I know the mx518 is a little old, but the shape is great. When this one goes I won't settle for a mouse of any other shape.

Note that the surface is smooth, even though it does't look it. Many of my friends have prodded the mouse, thinking there is something to it, but I assure you its just a flat, smooth, surface.

Yeah I'm using an MX700 atm, and aside from the ridiculous battery life it's pretty much identical to yours minus DPS switching. I can't live without two thumb buttons now, and I like the large, right-hand moulded shape of it. Ambidextrous usually means symmetrical, which I don't find very comfortable. All the lefthanders I know use mice righthanded anyway.

I've looked at 'gaming mice' before, but haven't found one that really suits me. All the flash and useless features don't interest me as much as comfort and buttons. I notice some mice with thumb buttons have them too low, down where your thumb holds the mouse, and they get hit by accident. IB's and my mice have these buttons on a ridge above where your thumb rests, so you can just rock your thumb to hit them but the chance of accidentally doing so is zero.

The mx700 is a great mouse too, the surface a little different, and it lacks the flashy look and resolution change but is an otherwise great mouse. I got an mx700 before my mx518 and now use it at work.

My one problem with the mx700 is that it kinda... broke on me after a few trips home in my laptop bag. Something happened to the usb end of the wire and it stopped working. I did manage to fix it, but not after replacing it with the 518. If you plan on moving around a lot I wouldn't suggest the 700 (not to mention that a wireless mouse with recharging station is a bit bulk to tote around. Not that I didn't use it on the train several times

I have a Copperhead myself. The on-the-fly sensitivity, ambidextrous yet comfortable design, and two thumb buttons (7 buttons total), plus the 2000DPI laser and 1GHz polling rate make me highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good gaming mouse.

I have the copperhead and it's rocking. best ambi mouse on the market, the Habu is the microsoft-branded right-hand only version, basically. The logitech is great, but only if you're right-handed.

Just for perspective, I've owned all of Razer's mice from the first Boomslang.

THe G5's good but LACKS A FORWARD BUTTON. (it has a back button but having one and not the other is just painful, even if that's browser functionality)

The back button can be programmed in some games but it doesn't feel like it's lightest OR heaviest would satisfy either extreme. (it's got adjustable weight and it's heaviest is still lighter than a massive MX1000 I have)

I programmed my G5's horizontal scroll to be forward/back. And there's a new rev coming out that has a forward button on it.

The Logitech MX600 I got with my Logitech desktop set suits me well. Great resolution on the laser with no random jittering as with my old optical PB one, and plenty of buttons to go with the tilting scroll wheel. It's also Wi-Fi and batteries can last a fair couple of months on moderate use.

Damn, that thing seams cool. I´ve been looking for a good mouse solution for a while and i think this hit the spot. I guess i´ll go to Media Markt tomorrow and pick one up. Thanks for the hint.

Heh, no problem. I sound like a schill for the product, but it really did make a dramatic improvement in my health. I was worried about needing wrist surgery, as it was becoming painful to lift things with that arm because of the strain it put on my wrist. I couldn't do pushups or exercise that arm at all, so it was pretty bad. Got the mouse though, and it's done a good job of being a gaming mouse as well as letting me keep up on my 3D animation without the early quitting time I needed to impose to keep my tendons from fossilizing.

Yeah, my mouse arm sometimes feels like it´s about to fall asleep after long working hours and i´ve had a carpal tunnel syndrome (i think that´s the correct term for this. It can hurt pretty badly.) form working. Perhaps this mouse works. Looks fucking stupid but it also seems to make sense.
I just checked and unfortunately they´re over 70€ over here but, ah well, i´ll get over it.
