Joystick assistence

I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo ForceFeedback, had it for nearly a year. Recently it started being autotwisted on the rudder axis(twisting the stick). Calibration has not changed things.
The effect in-game is perpetual roll to the left, counterbalenced only if I twist the stick fully to the right.
Any idea what would cause this or how to fix it?

I'd guess that it's a mechanical issue - the thing is sprung to center, and springs can slip. If you're comfortable with doing so, pull the thing apart and see what's up.
Of course, if it only twists when it's powered, that's not the problem.

Assuming it's not just the centering; some joysticks use optical sensors and an encoder disk. If this one does, check that the disc hasn't slipped around on its shaft. Otherwise if it uses potentiometers the Z-axis pot may well have gone (twisting them hard enough can easily damage the wiper or the track). Check the control input with the joystick setup software - if there is a literally digital switch from full left to full right at the very end of the travel, it's almost certainly a potentiometer track break. You could try soldering in a new one - if that doesn't work the ADC is probably defective and the thing is a write off.

Might be a driver issue, my old Cyborg 3-D had the same problem in the dark old days, a driver update cleared it up nicely.

Uh..no taking it apart.
I'll try the drivers route or take it back. I guess the latter will be easier, I don't like dealing with peripherals.
Weird, I can easily take apart my PC on a lark, but I don't like even software configuring anything
