Post by Lord Pounder »

Can i Get some help with a PC upgrade. I currenty run an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ with 1.5 gig of DDR ram.

I'm looking at a new motherboard and processor, but i'm guessing i might need a new GFX card and memory.

I have £450.00 give or take to spend but am restricted to buying from the following places

PC World

Mplex

or Maplin

Just strictly out of curiosity, why can't you spend on any other sites?

You suck. Seriously, PC World is a total rip-off and Maplin isn't much better these days. I use Dabs.com extensively and even with next-day delivery (which I've always found to be an accurate description), they're considerably cheaper. If you've got a perfectly working PC, not being able to wait a few days for a new one is pretty sad.

Bought the bits today. Got a Intel Core Duo E6400, An Asrock Conroe945g 1 gig of DDR2 and a 7600GT Graphics Card. All in all I walked out at much less than the £450 budget I had set myself. Now i just have to put the son of a bitch togeather.

Also the reason why I needed it so quickly is because my current motherboard is dying. I can get 20 minutes of gaming before the shitheap crashes or restarts.

Thanks in perticular to Ace Pace for some good advice on AIM.
