Greetings, my fellow MUSHers / MUDers / etc. I humbly submit the following for your consideration:
Richard van Meurs wrote:This survey is part of my research in Leisure Studies at Tilburg University, the Netherlands. As I am a MUD administrator myself (after playing extensively for several years), I am very much interested in the results. Your contribution to this research is extremely valuable and it will only take about 10 minutes of your time to complete the survey. Of course everything you submit will be handled anonymously and with care and will only be used to draw general conclusions about playing styles for my research.

At the end of the survey you can indicate if you want to receive a summary of the results or a full copy of the resulting article. In addition to this, you might be rewarded with a gift certificate for amazon.com of $15. More information about this will be at the end of the survey. You can find the survey by visiting:

http://www.rofv.nl/survey

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and time.

Richard van Meurs
He says he's studying MUDs specifically, but he emailed us directly at Dark Gift MUSH* looking for help so he appears to be using the term for a broad range of MU-type-games. I can't personally vouch for the guy, but he seems to be on the level and only asks for an email address if you want to get a copy of the paper and/or an entry in the drawing for the $15 gift certificate in addition to a warm feeling for helping out a scholarly gamer.

That URL again: Survey

*Pssst! Hey you, with the fingers! You lookin for some good, FREE 2nd ed OWoD? PM for the address and the most unbiased description somebody who works there can give. [/shameless plug]

Does message board count as a MUD/MUSH?

Probably not if there's just communication using the MU* format without some kind of RPG element, but the survey gives you a chance to describe the place's IC/OOC ratio and whatever so you probably can't hurt him by responding.
