It could have worked on the Wii

Post by Schuyler Colfax »

I know both of these games came out while back but, seriously think about it. I always thought that the only reason "Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam" was released was because game producers thought that "Tony Hawk's Pro-Skater 8" wouldn't work on the Wii. To be honest I thought that downhill jam stunk and pro-skater 8 was a step above mediocre. But really pro-skater could have worked on the wii.

Look at it this way you can hold the Wii-mote horizontal. You could use the wii-mote to turn left and right (just like in "Excite Truck") the 1 & 2 buttons could have worked as the A and B buttons of a normal controller. The actual A and B buttons could have worked as X and Y on a normal controller. Throw in some motion sensetivity like moving the wii-mote up and down to determine how much air to get on jumps, maybe have a little thing where we balance the wii-mote on our palms for grinding and manuals and it looks like you would have a really good game. Question is why didn't they make it?

What do you think?

I think it could have worked if they put enough time into it, however doing all those crazy tricks would be a bitch.

It would have looked like a turd smeared on my screen. So no.

I actually think that Wiimote juggling would have been the best way to do it.

You hold the Wiimote and move it like a skateboard, then you can toss it into the air (with appropriate spin etc) to do moves...

Well if you put it that way then the game should some with an extra controller just in case you break that one.

When it comes to graphics it would just look like a gamecube tony hawk game maybe just a little better.

As for motion sensitivity for spin moves all you would have to do is just hold a button while holding the wii-mote in a certain direction. Shit after talking about it like this I'd really want this game to be made.

Voted No, for the same reasons as weemadando.

This may seem like a dumb question but how do you think downhill jam would have worked on the other consoles? Would that have made it a better game?
