Flipside
This is what we've mostly been working on the last ten weeks or so. It was a project for school, to produce a playable game in ten weeks. My group did this. The other groups mostly just managed to make short demo versions of their games (but very good demos).
Anyway, this is the game Flipside. You're an Aztec eagle warrior that has been sacrificed in order to ensure the prosperity of your tribe, by pleasing the gods. Unfortunately, you become some sort of pawn in a feud between Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca, where Quetzalcoatl ultimately wants to abolish the ritual sacrifices and Tezcatlipoca wants to keep them. The reason why I'm telling you this, is because we never had time to add sound to those lovely cut-scenes, so you will not understand what's going on. That doesn't matter though, this game works just fine without the story, and the cut-scenes are funny.
I think you'll understand how to play it pretty quickly. Figure out how to get from the start to the finish, by using your mystical eagle to manipulate platforms.
If you're wondering what I did on this project; I'm responsible for level 22, which you will come to hate (and also the bonus level "Castle Argh", which I personally feel is a bit of a master piece, even though you will hate it too if you try it), and also for programming the Demon enemy. It's also my fault that you can create your own levels with a level editor. I also designed several platform types (the different types of blocking platforms where my ideas, for instance), and almost all particle effects. I was designer/programmer, but most of the other programming work I did are things you won't notice.
It was not my idea (even though it's my fault) to have an installer instead of just a zip, though. I'm not a fan of those things. But the others insisted, so...
Also, yes, we know the name doesn't have anything to do with Aztec mythology. We couldn't come up with something better that we really liked, and DICE said it was fine when we talked to them, so there
So yeah, tell me what you think, and if you create any cool levels, post them here or send them to me, and they might become part of a future expansion pack
