Warhammer 40K invades handhelds
THQ will bring Games Workshop's sci-fi universe to DS, PSP this fall with Squad Command.

Earlier this year, THQ announced it had signed on Vigil Games to bring the Waaagh!! invasion to the massively multiplayer online scene with an as-yet-unnamed Warhammer 40,000 MMOG. To help humanity prepare for the oncoming horde, THQ announced today Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command, a portable turn-based strategy game that centers on the conflict between the Imperium of Man and the malevolent race known as the Chaos. Squad Command will ship for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable this fall.

On both handheld platforms, Squad Command will feature single-player and multiplayer modes. The single-player campaign follows the Imperium's Ultramarines over the course of 13 missions as they fend off Chaos forces.

In multiplayer mode, players will be able to join together online to compete against opponents from a worldwide pool in one of nine missions. The multiplayer mode also lets gamers play as either the Imperium or Chaos factions. According to THQ, Squad Command will fully make use of the two platforms portable functionality, including the DS's dual screens and stylus controls, but no mention was made of local or ad hoc play.

Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command has not yet been rated or priced.
Might be interesting, even if the people at GS have no idea about the setting "The race known as The Chaos" what?

How else would you summarize the game in one line? For someone who doesn't know 40K, "the race known as Chaos" is a perfectly suitable description.

That might be acceptable, but "the chaos" is just fucking retarded.

Shit yeah, at last some use for the DS I got as a christmas present a year and a half ago (no, I seriously haven't played it more than twice :P ).
"Death before dishonour" they say, but how much dishonour are we talking about exactly? I mean, I can handle a lot. I could fellate a smurf if the alternative was death.

God damn, it's a good time to be a fan of turn based strategy...

I'll have to check it out.
