It's previously had really massive trouble with this feature causing complete system lockups before, but not this severely. It's bad enough this damn thing takes a long time to boot up and shut down as is, but now having to reboot it twice a day!?
I just disabled the whole damn power-saver thing under Control Panel>Power Options, but I get a nagging feeling that this problem will be coming back again. I thought I'd traveled this road a couple months ago already.
And as predictable as Newtonian physics, it happened again last night despite all of that shit disabled. Went into BIOS this morning, no relevant settings to fix. GRAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!

Apparently not. It's a Phoenix BIOS from early 2k6, too.
EDIT: And rebooting this thing is an excessively long and painful process. I think as soon as I get MozBackup and a new SATA drive to throw all my data on, I'm reinstalling Windoze.
Did you try the 'power management' button on the 'Screen Savers' panel?

Let me know how XP instalation goes. I can't get mine to go past 8 or 9 percent and I am seriously thinking of switching to Vista if not revert to ME.

Okay, now it simply decided to enable standby mode when Dave logged into his profile, then logged out.
The problem appears when he logs out: the computer goes into standby, then promptly freezes requiring a HARD reset (toggling the power strip's cutoff switch)! I seriously think it's a Windows-rot issue now!

Disable fast user switching, painful but works.
Painful? Why? Fast user switching should be disabled by default because it causes a lot more problems than it solves, especially with the kind of computer illiterate morons that most users are.

Why is it so goddamned hard to get little assholes like you to admit it when you fuck up? Is it pride? What gives you the right to have any pride?
