Transformers: The Game aka GTA with robots.

Post by VF5SS »

I picked up the PS2 version of the Transformers Movie game and I gotta say it's pretty fun. Much of the appeal comes with the ability to just run around as a big ol' robot and do random stuff in each level. You can climb buildings (or blow them up) and there are tons of objects you can pick and throw. Normally the games wants you to go to the next mission area, but you can just go around collecting yellow cubes, collecting faction symbols, and doing random sub missions to unlock new stuff. You also have to perform several "skill tests" including driving really fast or doing some wicked donuts as another way of unlocking extras. Most of the extras are dumb comic cover scans and lame videos, but the extra that will get the fanboys really weak in the knees is the ability to unlock the original Optimus Prime as a character. Overall a pretty good game. I imagine the PS3 version has a ton of BLOOM and HIGH RES GRAFIX, but the PS2 version is all right by me.

the Wii version is pretty decent to, the controls take some getting used to, loooking around is controlled by the position of the cursor (move it to the edge of the screen to pan the camera).

I've been focusing on the Decepticon Missions mostly...and I'm dismayed at the level of damage a human car can take when faced with Barricade's heavy weapon.......but how quickly Military vehicles go down to light weapon fire...

Yeah, that's pretty LOL worthy. I like how cars only explode if people are driving them. Haha.

While their not as clear/sharp/wowwie as they will be on the PS3 and 360 versions...their very good.

Clear, well defined, the Robot and vehicle modes look good, the reuse of the same models for the civilian cars suck though...was expecting to see more than every police car be Barricade, all of the trucks be Topkicks (Ironhide's alt mode), and all the ambulances are the weird hummer-esque ambulance of Rachet.

That's good to hear. I was hoping that it didn't get subjugated to the same plight that the Wii version of Spider-Man 3 suffered, and ended up with Nintendo 64 era graphics.

That's for the DS version, though, which is sort of an entirely different game. :P

I'm sorry. I totally forgot about your thread. Can you ever forgive me?

Oh and word on gamefaqs that the secret to GEEWUUUUN bliss in this game is so collect all the Autobot symbols during their campaign and likewise for the Decepticons to unlock both old Optimus Prime and old Megatron (who does not transform).

So I hear the Autobots 'drive like trains' in vehicle form? :)

For some reason AU didn't get TF yet, so I'm temporarily stuck with the Darkness. However, they believe in a thing called love, so it's not all bad.

Trains with fucking nitro boosts. They move at like Mach 2. It's a lot more fun to stomp around as a big robot. Sadly Starscream has the most retarded control scheme with the left stick being throttle and turning and the right stick being pitch and roll. They totally just attempted to convert SIX-AXIS L33TNESS into the twin sticks.

The game reminds me of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, but from the reviews, lacking in most of the things that made Hulk satisfying and fun to play.

Also Hulk is cheap now.

How does Starscream fly on the Wii?

nicely.

the cursor controlling the camera makes alot more sense with him, as if you want to make hard turns, you bring the cursor over to the screen edges. Only problem with him is you can't make him fly in robot mode also....that would have been cool....

so I started playing the Autobot Mission...got Optimus Prime....and I immediatly started just blowing up the entire god damn city.

When I finally decided to continue on with the story mission......

I get to someone I didn't expect to see in a movie time-in game........

Shockwave smashes into Earth in Meteor form.

That's right, Mr Mother Fucking Logic himself..Shockwave arrives and he's got TWO forms.

He kicked my ass....mostly because I was stunned at a) seeing Shockwave and b) seeing their rendition of Shockwave (it was actually very good).....
