Mantel Global Industries: "Haze" Spoof Website...

Post by Big Orange »

I’ve stumbled across a spoof corporate website that is related to Ubisoft’s upcoming game, Haze, a somewhat uninspired looking FPS developed by Rareware offshoot, Free Radical, a gaming firm who were also responsible for the OK-ish Time Splitters franchise and the more memorable Second Sight. Mantel Global Industries is a hackneyed mega corporation from the year 2047 and very likely plays a integral part in Haze’s plot. Here is the company’s mission statement from the rather snitchy looking CEO, David Bloomfeld:
A Word From David Bloomfeld, Mantel Global Industry Founder and CEO

Dear Friend,
thank you for visiting us.

My name is David Bloomfield. I am the founder and CEO of Mantel Global Industries. I am happy to welcome you to the new Mantel Global Industries website.

It reflects the necessary changes our group is going through to face the ever-growing challenges imposed upon us by a world that is changing faster and faster. The recent events around the globe have taught us new lessons, sometimes the hard way.

The world is becoming more and more complicated, and - many would say - more and more dangerous. It takes more than new methods to answer to these new threats and challenges. The times we are living in demand us to rethink the world, our world. They oblige us to rethink the way we live, the way we envision the world. Vision is the key word for the formidable journey that is ahead of us.

This new Mantel Global Industries web site is just one part of this vision, our contribution to creating a safer and better world for each and every one of us. In the upcoming months, we will unveil more information, so please do check back regularly to discover what Mantel Global Industries can and will do for you.
Every time you need it, you will find us on your side.

This is my commitment.
This is the Mantel difference.
This international megacoporation has various subsidiaries that concern the fields of aerospace, healthcare, alternative energies (superweapon R&D anyone?), financial banking, international freight, military hardware (“we practically are the military“), media services (for toppling governments with a single broadcast), general consumer products, bioengineering (mutant freaks ahoy) and security contracting (ranging from rent-a-cops to elite mercenaries).

The website is full of Haze related backstory and it is blatantly obvious from a million miles away that Mantel Global Industries is the humanitarian, philanthropic outfit it is making itself out to be and is likely going to follow in the steps of Weyland-Yutani, Omni Consumer Products and Umbrella.

What, are you on Nectar as well? Haze's 'is this actually real, or is it the combat drug messing with my head' thing makes it look like one of the more interesting games coming out any time soon.
What is Project Zohar?

Here's to a certain mostly harmless nutcase.

It will probably be a very good game, but it's still too early to tell and it seems a tad generic with futuristic commandos fighting in urban or jungle enviroments (as competent as it looks). The Mantel corporate website is well written and put together though - apparently the Nectar serum is sold on the civilian market as well in pharmaceutical form and even as a beverage.
