Stalker, revisited.

So I thought after waiting a few months I'd try stalker again with the latest patches and mods. And was pleasantly surprised, on release I had to use object lighting and it was still a bitch, after these patches it runs at 55+fps consistently on full dynamic and looks better. So I thought I'd post them here for anyone who gave up the first time around due to performance issues.

1.001 patch | US Ver.
1.0003 | US Ver. (25-30% improvement in performance)
Completely replaced float32 lighting system (20-25% performance boost on shader 3.0 cards, better image quality)
Replaced lighting shaders, improves colour and makes them less sharp (no performance loss, image quality improvement)

I know it's a bit of a necro, but i didn't want to create another thread about the same thing.

Patch 1.0004 has now been released for a few weeks. It fixes a lot of little problems with the game and boosts performance and stability considerably.

If you've been waiting for a version of Stalker you can play without worrying about the next crash, this is it.

Do you have to download alll the patches one by one or is there one bug 'full patch' file?

There is on big full patch.

I just recently downloaded it and was able to play through the whole game with only occasional crashes, although in the Garbage it would consistantly freeze up for about 30 seconds, though I think this was due to a bandit dump(which I once was in the middle of their spawn point when 8 bandits got loaded in)

Hopefully, this patch will allow me to actually play the game. I've tried every version up to 1.0003 and never made it past 'loading textures' before the game bugged up and forced me to hard-reboot my laptop. No one else seems to have had this problem, as far as I can tell.
