How can I put XP back on? Had an assfull of Vista

Post by Superman »

System restore won't give me a restore point quite that far back, so does anyone know how I can do this?

This was an XP upgrade.

Get an XP CD and just install over it?

Installing over it might not be a good idea, having old DLL's around can cause major headaches. Your best bet is probably to back everything up, put the XP disc in hit install on the vista partition and format it.

Once you go VISTA you can't go back anymore Supes. Sorry about that. The only way to go back to XP is to do a fresh install(I mean reformatting the hard drive type) Hope you made backups of whatever you wanted to keep. I hear Microsoft will eventually make a patch that will allow you to go back to XP...but don't hold your breath.

Kill it with fire. Fresh install's your only option, system restore doesn't even work for internal OS issues most of the time, much less entire OS swaps. If you want to play with Vista, I'd recommend doing it on a different hard drive.

Sorry 'bout that. By 'install over it' I DID mean trash the partition and install XP fresh.
