Was wondering if anyone picked this up yet, saw it the store and was debating on whether to buy it or not. It's gotten good reviews so far and looks interesting.

I play on the Europe servers, it's not a bad game, makes a refreshing change from WoW. Kinda has an almost DAoC feel to it.

I might consider trying it out if they ever offer a playable demo. I couldn't find one to download on their main site.

Isn't it basically WoW with knobs on? Some of the additions sound interesting, but I'm not sure it's enough to either avoid the WoW problems or be worth playing instead of WoW.

Zod, it's an MMO. There are no 'playable demos', there are 'trial keys'. Some like EVE have a fairly constant distribution of 14-day trials, and others (like WoW, I believe) don't. Hilariously, many MMOs don't allow downloads of the client at all, forcing you to buy a physical box for no reason. :)

Well, bugger that then. I know that WoW at least offers trial discs and a download of the client in various places, I thought there might have been something like that here. Oh well.

From what I've read and heard from friends who play, it's basically WoW with no real solo options.

Soloing is still viable, just not for the epic quests (following parts of the LotR story), the upside it has over WoW is theres little need to grind the levels, at least as far as I've encountered.

I'm a 65 warrior in WoW and I really haven't done any xp grinding.

I'd be willing to do a trial sometime just to see if the music system is any fun.

I beta'd it. I was sadly unimpressed, as I really had high hopes for it. Some of the elements are fun (taking control of spiders or wargs to harass PCs) but overall just some WoW remixing. I'm looking forward to the Warhammer MMO, which seems to put a big emphasis on players battling players, which is what seems to set apart a Massive version of Parallel Play like WoW and an actual MMORPG.

I still want a modern game with a UO skill system, along with player-crafted everything. But one that doesn't suck.

I tried the beta. Load it up, first quest? Go kill x wolves and come back.

Bzzzt, wrong answer.
