I was thinking recently about Z steel soldiers and how it had similar features (such as capturing regions for income), and a similar gameplay stye to many recent releases that have been successful. However i dont think it did too well when originally released, and i didnt really get into it that much. Do you think that either the rts (community) wasnt ready for some of the changes the game made or that they were poorly implemented?

I recall not liking the regions system in Z, but finding it good in DoW... not too sure how they differed though...

And on another note- is starcraft 2 using the same engine as CnC3? Because now i've played it, it seems that there is a really similar visual look and even some units look identical eg the motherships in both games are exactly the same, the new terran marines are identical to zone troopers, and theres even some unit with the jetpacks. And the nukes looked similar too...

It is highly unlikely that Starcraft will use an EA engine.

Well i thought it would be unlikely, but after i saw the ridiculously close resemblance i got a bit suspicious...

Ridiculously close? Starcraft 2, is, if anything, grossly inferior to C&C3 in the graphical capabilities department.

The beams look the same. That's pretty much it. Oh, and there's some sort of zone-trooper-lookalike. And the Protoss have the Scrin's mothership. :P

Seriously though, CNC3 looks way better than it, and always will. Why? Because they're designing Starcraft 3 to work on Korean Integrated Graphics. It's going to be Warcraft 3, but slightly more plastic-like.

CNC3 meanwhile, is gritty and sharp, with neat lighting/environmental effects and stuff that flies all over. Because it was designed for being used with an actual graphics card.
