MGS4 Final Trailer

So... Vamp is back. Mother of all knife fights ensues.

And Meryl looks hawt.

Also, nanomachines = FOXDIE? Makes sense, but kind of means they have an ultimate weapon what with the whole perfect nanoscopic weapon there. Maybe that explains Liquid taking over Ocelot. His arm had an imprint of his mind saved as a nanomachine network, that then infected Ocelot's brain after the operation.

...

Well, that's my explanation. Jus' sayin'.

David Hayter still isn't Akio Ohtsuka, but he's pretty much quality. They've really increased the amount of gravel in his diet too. The new Metal Gear units are looking pretty nuts, and there's quite a few of them; I doubt Raiden kills them all for you, so that should make for some interesting battles considering how ungodly quick the Gekkos are.

Also: Vamp vs. Raiden. Epic as all fuck, and astoundingly homoerotic. I'm not sure what I think of his English voice actor at the moment; I can say for certain that he hasn't got the presence of his Japanese VA. That one sounded self-assured, confident and powerful? In English? Sounds more like a sufferer of lung cancer.

LeMarr is excellent though.

Doesn't seem worth a thousand dollar console, though. The new Metal Gear units look pretty crazy, like you said.

Hideo will remove the dreaded 'exclusivity' thing. [/blind optimism] Though if I really want to play it, I know a friend who will most definitely be buying a PS3, so I'll just pick up a copy of MGS4 and go to his house.

Their agility could make for some funny moments when they pull a death from above ambush from the roof of that building over there. They also seem light enough that if they wanted to, they could sneak around somewhat - that in itself could be nerve wrackingly intense.

Man, you MGS4 fans really like to talk the game up! 'Nerve wrackingly intense'? I've played the other MGS games - they are NOT tense games. They're 8-bit shooters with awful rambling VA. Unless they hired the guys that made Thief, it's going to be as 'nerve wracking' as MGS3.

Such optimism. I don't really understand MGS fans, though (ie, the 'I will buy a PS3 for this one average game' ones).

I'm not talking from experience, as I've never actually played any Metal Gear Solid in my life. Rather, I was making a statement on what would be possible (hence 'could be') based upon what I'm seeing there. For all I know such an oppurtunity will be missed entirely and the Gekkos will just turn out to be stompy and noisy and just generally ordinary.

Oh, yeah it just seemed really bizarre wrt the standard MGS play. You're absolutely right, it WOULD be really cool (I can see those gears being all over the show). MGS is really a huge sequence of missed opportunities. ;)

All that i could think of while watching the trailer was "Didn't you hear? Real is brown."

Just so you know, the Gekkous aren't Metal Gears. They're simply a complementing unit to the Humvees or Strykers you'll have in MOUT ops.

I really look forward to the game either way, Stark's pessimism aside. :P The gaming experience is great, after all, what's wrong with 8-bit shooters with great graphics, music and a funky plot?

I just hope the nanomachine technobabble is contrived to make Snake young again before the end of the game. I'm sorry, a moustached old pensioner isn't a cool player-character. Just ... NO.

That fight at the end was total fucking garbage. Why riverdance on the guys chest instead of just removing his fucking head, like you appear to be capable of?

Boredom incarnate.

Why shove a Katana through yourself? Raiden you ... idiot. You were cool for like ... the entire period between your first appearance in the MGS4 videos and now.

You have a problem with playing as Sean Connery? Get out.

Until they reveal the story, if the footage isn't red herring (like MGS2), then I can see that happening.

So he can stab it into Vamp? Isn't he supposed to be all robot nowerdays? So he doesn't need to worry so much about impalement?

And I'm hoping Liquid hasn't totally destroyed Ocelot's mind. Because Ocelot was all kinds of awesome.

Either way you would think he would die.

No, you wouldn't. He's a cyborg in the same vein as Gray Fox; if a little impalement did anything more than tickle, I'd be very surprised.

Said knife fight is hilariously homoerotic. The final line could be put verbatim in a gay porn flick.

I've been told that you can see Vamp in the final scene of MGS2. Where Snake and Raiden are talking in the street, he's supossedly in the background crowd. Never seen him myself.

Incidentally, the background crowd going about their buisness makes no sense. The shortest route from the coast to Federal Hall involves demolishing four blocks, the route I think they actually took is more like six. Arsenal Gear is pretty fucking wide too. At the very least, hundreds would have died. There would be general shock and horror, not "Would you look at that, it seems a giant... thing just utterly destroyed half a dozen blocks of downtown Manahattan. Whoops, I'm late for work."

Yay for tangents.

Hence the "he's down, so its fucking coup-de-grace time shitbrain!" rather than "look at me! I'm Michael Flatley!"

Really, I don't think Vamp was taking the fight all that seriously*; he was clearly enjoying himself, so stabbing Raiden with his toe-claws and keeping the fight going might have struck him as being the best course of action, as opposed to stabbing him in the head with his bowie knife.

*Considering that Vamp's fighting style is based on flaminco dancing, this is hard to notice.
