computer overheating problem

I'm having pretty frequent crashes (about once a day or two days) where everything just slows to a crawl and then nothing happens. Most of them I think I can attribute to Firefox, which I need to do something about, but today I had four or five crashes, one of which was a blue-screen and then an automatic computer restart.

Interesting thing was that the system zones were the ones that were overheating. I've had CPU temp go high before but recently I've had my system zones go way up as well.

What do these system zones refer to and what can I do to help cool them down?

Have you checked the heatsinks to make sure they're firmly attached? The thermal paste could be not spread properly or otherwise be 'off'. Also, try checking your computer for dust. It's a big cause of heat buildup if it's got a hefty accumulation.

Those temperatures should be safe.

In addition to the advice given above, inspect your motherboard's capacitors (see if they're bulging at the top). You might also have a dying power supply.

Check the monitoring software or your motherboard documentation.
