'Smart' phones are getting cheap

At Newegg (and I'm sure lots of other online retailers) you can get a Blackberry curve for under a hundred bucks (U.S.), and a 4 GB micro sdhc card for around $50. I must say I am pretty tempted to get the Curve. I mean, I can stick a lot of music and videos (ripped DVD's and the like) on there, and as someone who uses BART (electric rail in California) it would make passing time much more enjoyable.

I suppose the purpose of this thread is to talk about where 'smart' phones are heading. In a good five years, the iPhone will be able to be had free with activation of a two year contract (remember when the Razor was $600 bucks? LOL!).

Wait, really? I thought smartphones were only ever that cheap if your contract gave you a good deal on it? I'd go for that Curve in a heartbeat as I have a big clunky old Blackberry myself. :| No real multimedia bells and whistles, just internet, email and messaging fortes. (which isn't bad mind you, I read a lot of the TBO verse in between slave-jobs at work that way)
