Here's the short version: my computer was full of crap, so we got someone to look at it, and he had to completely reboot everything. He saved all of my files etc, so all of my stuff was saved, but now my DVD drivers are gone. I can't seem to find them online either. Does anyone know where I can download them?

I assume you mean your DVD player software. It usually ships with the drive, so you should have a disk around somewhere. There are probably freeware options, and many media players also handle DVDs.

If you really do mean 'drivers for the DVD drive', they're pretty generic and your OS should have handled that by itself. Is it a strange or unusual drive?

I don't think so, but when the guy re-installed everything, it seemed to all be normal, everything was working fine. Just when I try to play a DVD, it says something along the lines of 'cannot play. missing DVD drivers', hence my question.

Do you mean DVD movies? You can try VLC for that.

I second using VLC for DVD Video, though you could also try mPlayer. You'll spend atleast $10US if you try to add the necessary codecs to Windows Media Player.

Although a quick Google search turned up "free dvd software" from AVS Media and from Cliprex. Never heard of either of them personally but if you want an option that isn't Video Lan Client (VLC), then you have it.
