STGOD: A Dead Art? (II)

Since the thread has got so large and the poor old database tends to choke on overly long threads, you can move your posting over to this thread and carry on the mayhem etc.

I doubt the database would notice an 8 page difference. You could have waited until we hit a 100 pages. You know, since 100 is a nice round number and all...

Since, as you say, eight pages doesn't make a difference, let it go and get back to the business of the thread.

I doesn't make a difference to the database. It does make a difference to STGOD players who can feel they have a 100 page thread as an accomplishment. It's a silly complaint though, not meant to be entirely serious.

Right, anyway.

The good lady Templar Prasad is most definitely still around - she's the one organizing the building fleet in my space. I imagine she's not that difficult to get ahold of. Keep in mind that she's essentially a high-ranking military officer, and go from there.

White Haven, I hate to sound like a broken record, but it would be nice if we wrapped things up here. The battles have kept a lot of things on hold, and it would be nice to get things resolved soon. This stuff should really have been resolved a while ago, and while I know that you've been busy, I'd really like to see this resolved soon. Please contact me as soon as you can.

Just to prove i'm still alive. As a follow up from the abomination of the drawn Chamaran Shikon battleship, here is their frigate as an untextured model made with wings3d.

Image

Yes i am new at modelling, I would texture it cept the 'edge marker' type lines turn up on the model texture and make it ugly as sin as well as being incredibly awkward to remove.

Tanasinn, I'm not ignoring your last post - I'm just polishing up a few things concept-wise before I do.

Crossroads Inc., are you going to let my envoy into your space so I can rejoin the NGTO meeting, or what? ;)

Also, Bugsby, SirNitram, White Haven, Covenant, Dark Hellion, and Cincinnatus - you have my envoys ringing your doorbell, and in Dark Hellion's case, we've a scene to finish.

The inevitable after-action summary;

Code: Select all

>>> Slaughter at Ruda Slaska <<<

Location : Ruda Slaska, ~8.4ly galactic east of Nowy Masovie
Situation : In a desperate effort to prevent their fleet being destroyed, the
pirates of Bootswellington attempt to hold numerous Polish space
colonies hostage. In the one hour it took the defenders to arrive,
the four ships planted fourty one 30-megaton-range fusion bombs
(originally intended for the destruction of Nowa Massovie) on the
hulls of various stations. The Polish ships ignored requests to
negotiate and opened fire without warning. The Pirate ships
initiated the fusion devices just as the battle started.
Forces : 3 x Polish 'Stanislaw Skalski' class (15 pts, ???)
            1 x Polish 'Husaria' class (12 pts, ???)
            2 x Polish 'Blyskawica' class (8 pts, ???)
            1 x Polish 'Wilk' class (4 pts, ???)
            1 x Polish "Orzel" class (2 pts, ???)
            5 x Polish 'Zbik' class (1 pts, ???)
4 x Bootswellington 'Blackblade' class (10 pts, destroyed)
Notes : The Pirate ships were split into two groups of two, one pair in
orbit over Ruda Slaska III, the other pair in the asteroid belt.
The Polish ships were likewise split into two groups to handle
them. The two ships in the asteroid belt (the Dreaming Doom and
the Cruel Trident) went down in battle trying to take out as many
enemy as possible. Near the planet the Wolf's Howl focused its
fire on civilian traffic, staying close to Polish stations to force
damage from friendly fire, before being destroyed by crossfire as
the Polish ships encircled it. The Wandering Doubloon cloaked and
fled as the battle started, but was eventually hunted down by EW
frigates several light years out and promptly destroyed.

>>> Border Breakthrough <<<

Location : Polish space, ~50ly south-east of Nowy Masovie
Situation : The League and Bootswellington fleets are running from a combined
defending fleet at full speed, which is trailing them by a mere
half an hour. A Portuguese fleet is waiting for them, stationed
half way between the Nowy Masovie and the Polish border facing the
League of Thought, which plots an intercept course. Immediately
before the fleets met, the Pirates cut and run, their ships
spreading out in a star pattern and cloaking or going around the
battle and switching to maximum speed. The League are left to face
            the Portugese alone.
Forces : 1 x 45 pt pskyer team 'Born of Ashes' (destroyed)
2 x 40 pt pskyer team 'And Hell Followed With Him' (undamaged)
3 x 40 pt pskyer team 'And Hell Followed With Him' (destroyed)
2 x 35 pt psyker team 'Orangutan Death Squadron' (undamaged)
6 x 35 pt psyker team 'Orangutan Death Squadron' (destroyed)
5 x Portugese 'Incursor' class (45 pts, minor damage)
8 x Portugese 'Espada Afiada' class (15 pts, undamaged)
2 x Portugese 'Espada Afiada' class (15 pts, destroyed)
3 x Portugese 'Voo Parada' class (10 pts, destroyed)
            20 x Portugese 'Maria' class (4pts, undamaged)
            5 x Portugese 'Maria' class (4pts, destroyed)
            40 x Portugese 'Dourado Levantou-Se' class (2 pts, undamaged)
            10 x Portugese 'Dourado Levantou-Se' class (2 pts, destroyed)
Notes : The League focus on destroying the three interdiction cruisers
preventing them from returning to hyperspace. The Portugese pull
the cruisers back, forcing the League ships to fly through a
murderous crossfire to get at the interdictors. The League succeeds
in destroying all three interdictors, but the victory is a phyrric
one, as less than a quarter of their fleet escapes and their lead
on the pursuing armada has been cut from thirty minutes to less
            than ten.
I'm definitely missing some Portugese ships from the second one, Bystander did you make a post describing your task force that I missed?

It's frustrating that I went to such lengths (and got certain people so worked up) trying to justify White Haven's decision to run away as making some kind of military sense, and then he isn't around to benefit from it, but I suppose these things happen. I am curious whether the CON prepositioned an interception fleet on both borders, or whether you successfully guessed that if they were going to run, both fleets would run towards League space.

Right, sorry, you mentioned that it was that fleet but I forgot. Edited.

Did some of those smaller ships take minor damage as well, rather than all being pristine or destroyed? Or were the League ships using fully effective concentration of fire, focusing on one target at once until it was destroyed, except vs the battleships?

The League didn't field anything smaller than a pocket battleship, escorts either got hit and lost or weren't.

Since players were asking about tethering sensors from cloaked ships, here is the ruling.

Micro-sensor array: -1 cloak rating, minimal information. Enough to avoid detection by staying out of range, if you're lucky.

Small sensor array: 1/2 (rounded up) cloak rating. Lets you slip into traffic patterns without crashing into things, but still pretty bad compared to a full sensor array.

Full sensor array: Removes cloaking field. There you go.

The above only applies if the sensor array is deployed, correct?

I have completed the character/ship list for my nation and the Kingdom of Bootswellington. I have also updated the quick reference with the CON membership list and fixed an error in A-Wing_Slash's summary.

I've finally decided on what to spend my 150 points. I'll be scrapping the Konata Izumi class for now; it may come back in future point allotments if time allows.

Code: Select all

Ships
-----

1 x 'Saber' class battleship (30)
3 x 'Char Aznable' class destroyer (15)

Other
-----

External intelligence upgrade (30 -> 50)
Ground combat upgrade (30 -> 50)
Planetary defence upgrade (215 -> 280)

(150 points total)

Portugal's expenditure for the last quarter:

BB (45) x 1 - 45
CCi (10) x 3 - 30
CC (15) x 1 - 15

Darkevilme there is a reason that the rules of English grammar mandate a new paragraph everytime you change speakers. For the sake of everyone who has to read your posts, please follow it.

I ask because we have specifically ruled against this shit in the past. I need to know which mods you've notified of this move.

On a similar note: The conventional tenses used are any variation of past or present tense. Use of the future perfect tense makes it really fucking annoying to read.

Still sorry about the long delay. I am still looking for a job, and really haven't been able to get back into the game because of that.

I should hopefully be gainfully employed and back to my normal routine soon.
