Vista appearance

So, I've upgraded from XP to Vista 64, due to having 4 gigs of RAM, hearing bad things about WinXP64, and just seeing what the benefits of Vista are.

Anybody know how to get rid of that sickly pastel blue on the menus? I'd like to keep Aero enabled, but that color makes me nausuous.

Also, anyone know of any decent icon packs? The new Vista icons are somewhat more difficult to tell apart for whatever reason.

Also, Praxis, where is that screenshot highlighting the inconsistencies between different Windows UIs? The different appearances between gaim, IE, firefox, etc look even worse than on Linux, (which is 100% consistent if you stick to GTK apps, and QT apps look similar enough)

Right click on desktop>Personalize>Window Color and Appearance

That only changes the color for the titlebar and window background -

You could download Window Blinds or another shell replacement package. Also, IIRC, Vista's theming isn't locked to the same extent as XP's, in a rare example of a geniune improvement between the two OSes.

I'm not exactly sure what you want to accomplish - perhaps a screenshot with the offending color would be in order?

Anyhow, from that menu you can change Aero coloring and there is a link there to the theme manager where you can select a (more custimizable) non-Aero theme.
