Okay, I'll just use some random guys for mission 1.

Image

Taking off!!!

Sheppard's Crate I forms up with squadron heading for Europe.

Over the french coast, we run into a couple of Bf-109s and FW-190s. The FW-190s are driven off by escort fighters; and we exchange ineffectual fire from all turrets.

Over Rennes, we run into more enemy fighters, once again 109s and 190s; the 190s are driven away. but the 109s press on; we fight off a couple of waves, and we reach St Nazaire; and apparently the Germans have sent up Ju-88s to deal with us.

One Ju-88 at 6 o clock high manages to get in some hits; and they walk across the fusleage.

Anders Russel, as our bombardier in the nose is KIA, the windows on the flight deck blow out into me and Bucher's faces (ow ow ow), bomb bay, radio room, and waist positions get some damage.

Ein's tail turret is rendered inoperable.

We continue to duel with the Ju-88s, and score some superficial hits with our .50s on them, until we get hit again

The waist gunners get it bad, Havoekoff is lightly wounded while The Muffin King is KIA.

Autopilot's dead now.

A couple of Me 109s come rushing in in a vertical dive from 12 o clock, and hit the port wing; knocking out the #1 engine. Bucher and me feather the prop.

Control Cables are feeling a bit weird.

More Me 109 Action, this time the Radioman John Vannas is lightly wounded; and we have a fuel leak in the Starboard inboard fuel tank; and have to land the bomber in 5 zones .

Port wing root takes some hits from more 109s; but it's BOMBS AWAY; and time to go back home.

FW190 rakes us, the Navigational equipment goes tits up and the top turrets jammed in position, and Bucher gets slightly wounded from cannon fire on the flight deck.

Almost to the channel, when a Me 110 hits us bad; Bucher cops it; and Ein's oxygen is hit.

We make it across the channel, and land just barely. Sheppard's Crate, serial number 43-38901-BO is scrapped due to excessive damage.

Matt Bucher died during mission.
Anders Russell died during mission.
John Vanas recovers from his wounds.
Havokoff recovers from his wounds.
Muffin King died during mission.

The Survivors pick up a brand new B-17G, named Sheppard's Crate II, 42-31150-BO.

We get a brand new Waist gunner by the name of Keevan Colton, and Mike Kozlowski replaces the late lamented Lonestar. A new bombardier by the name of Slade replaces Anders.

Second mission, we're to hit Rennes.

We form up and move out; due to bad weather, we manage to evade german fighter opposition until we're nearly to our target. Thankfully, the Little Friends are doing their jobs and drive off some FW 190s.

Some ineffectual fire exchanged between the fighters on the way to the target zone; and it's BOMBS AWAY!

But as we turn around to head home, four waves of FW190s bounce us

Everyones busier than a one legged man in an asskicking contest.

One of the 190s scores a walking hit, knocking out our starboard cheek gun, damaging our control cables, and jamming our bomb bay doors shut -- good thing we just dropped our bombs!

Radioman Vanas and Waist Gunner Silver both are lightly wounded in the attack.

Gunfire continues to be exchanged, with a 190 scoring more hits on the Crate II, and Ace Pace is slightly wounded, as No 2 engine runs away and has to be turned off and the prop feathered.

We continue exchanging gunfire until we're close enough to teh Channel for the Little Friends to drive off the Krauts; and we land successfully at our base.

Daniel Goldberg recovers from his wounds.
John Vanas recovers from his wounds.
Darek Silver recovers from his wounds.

Third mission, hitting Abbevile Airfield.

This time, we manage to keep the enemy off us with guns firing everywhere; and as we're over the target, we get hit by a flak burst, causing some superficial damage to the wing.

Gunfire's exchanged until a 109 at 6 o clock manages to hit us, lightly wounding Einhander, and knocking out the Autopilot.

More gunfire, until we make a safe landing back home, and Ein recovers from his wounds.

-----

4th Mission, we're hitting Freidrichschaefen

We cruise along until somewhere over brussels we're jumped by 109s. Keevan's lightly wounded.

Crusing along, Somewhere over Metz, Darek Silver, our ball turret gunner scores our first kill, shooting down a 109. :D

Over Friedrichschafen, a 190 in a vertical dive rakes us along the fuselage, Stuart's lightly wounded, I'm seriously wounded, and Mike's KIA>

Further back, the Ball gunner's heating system's knocked out; and Einy's seriously wounded.

Things ain't looking so good. and moments later the tail gunner's heat is knocked out.

Horray, the bandits are driven off by Little Friends, and we drop our bombs on target. Hmm....I think I'll continue to stay at altitude for a bit; until we get away from Germany; nobody's in danger of hypoxia...

Darek's starting to suffer from frostbite. He can tough it out a bit; and somewhere over Cologne, Einy gets frostbite.

Despite freezing to death, our brave ball turret gunner scores for a second time, downing a 110!

Once over england; I decide to land, instead of letting the crew bail out; oops. I crash the Bomber, and everyone Dies.

Crew Finish:
Mark Sheppard: KIA
Mike Kozlowski: KIA
Stuart Slade: KIA
Daniel Goldberg: KIA
Mike Wong: KIA
John Vanas: KIA
Darek Silver: KIA
Havokoff: KIA
Keevan Colton: KIA
Dale Cox: KIA

I'd like to take starboard waist gun, if you please. Always did like the big .50.

Also creepy is that Mike Kozlowski is one of my cousins.

Hmm...wouldn't I be Captain of a plane like Sherman's Revenge?

I'd also like to see how we can justify painting a scantily dressed woman on the side of the plane without making it seem out of place with a name like Sherman's Revenge.

BRILLIANT!

So now we have a plane, with a name, and something to connect said name to a picture of a scantily clad woman. Let's bomb some Nazis.

I was just about to suggest having the noseart depict the act of impaling a Confederate with a rifle-mounted bayonet. Now that's revenge. :D

Bombadier, navigator, tail gun, and starboard waist gun are taken. I'll take my place in the ball turret.

Hmmn, don't you need more of a crew first though? Put me in as Navigator; as "The most dangerous thing on the battlefield is a junior officer with a compass and a map."

God damn it!

I finally manage to make two kills and you go and crash the plane!
Some pilot you are.

Either Co-pilot, radio op, or one of the waist gunners.

Let's go waste some more krauts.
