Okay, I'll just use some random guys for mission 1.
Taking off!!!
Sheppard's Crate I forms up with squadron heading for Europe.
Over the french coast, we run into a couple of Bf-109s and FW-190s. The FW-190s are driven off by escort fighters; and we exchange ineffectual fire from all turrets.
Over Rennes, we run into more enemy fighters, once again 109s and 190s; the 190s are driven away. but the 109s press on; we fight off a couple of waves, and we reach St Nazaire; and apparently the Germans have sent up Ju-88s to deal with us.
One Ju-88 at 6 o clock high manages to get in some hits; and they walk across the fusleage.
Anders Russel, as our bombardier in the nose is KIA, the windows on the flight deck blow out into me and Bucher's faces (ow ow ow), bomb bay, radio room, and waist positions get some damage.
Ein's tail turret is rendered inoperable.
We continue to duel with the Ju-88s, and score some superficial hits with our .50s on them, until we get hit again
The waist gunners get it bad, Havoekoff is lightly wounded while The Muffin King is KIA.
Autopilot's dead now.
A couple of Me 109s come rushing in in a vertical dive from 12 o clock, and hit the port wing; knocking out the #1 engine. Bucher and me feather the prop.
Control Cables are feeling a bit weird.
More Me 109 Action, this time the Radioman John Vannas is lightly wounded; and we have a fuel leak in the Starboard inboard fuel tank; and have to land the bomber in 5 zones .
Port wing root takes some hits from more 109s; but it's BOMBS AWAY; and time to go back home.
FW190 rakes us, the Navigational equipment goes tits up and the top turrets jammed in position, and Bucher gets slightly wounded from cannon fire on the flight deck.
Almost to the channel, when a Me 110 hits us bad; Bucher cops it; and Ein's oxygen is hit.
We make it across the channel, and land just barely.
Sheppard's Crate, serial number 43-38901-BO is scrapped due to excessive damage.
Matt Bucher died during mission.
Anders Russell died during mission.
John Vanas recovers from his wounds.
Havokoff recovers from his wounds.
Muffin King died during mission.
The Survivors pick up a brand new B-17G, named
Sheppard's Crate II, 42-31150-BO.
We get a brand new Waist gunner by the name of Keevan Colton, and Mike Kozlowski replaces the late lamented Lonestar. A new bombardier by the name of Slade replaces Anders.
