Wii lightsabre game

Confirmed, atlast.
The game in question is the Wii version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, which was also announced today (previous versions of the game have been known about for some time, through official and unofficial channels). Krome Studios is handling the Wii, PS2, and PSP versions of the game while LucasArts is developing the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version internally. n-Space is also handling a Nintendo DS version of the game.
But the sword-swinging action will be exclusive to the Wii version, and even then, it will only be available in an exclusive “duel mode.” The description in the release says that this duel mode will be a multiplayer affair.

Heh, told you all so. Those darn LucasArts people taunting me with half-bits of information...
The duel mode sounds interesting, but the game is sadly bound to suck...LucasArts is putting ridiculous amounts of work into physics for The Force Unleashed, I daresay that is the draw of the game to me. The Wii version will be outsourced to a studio that will just make a generic Star Wars game. Maybe Duel Mode will be fun.

Well, they did a fairly decent job with the Spyro reboot, so we'll see how it goes. It does suck that Lucasarts isn't handling the game themselves, though. What, the Wii isn't "next-gen" enough?

Only by comparison with how utterly shit the series had been since Insomniac stopped making them. They're still blah, especially compared to some of the other games that have come out in the platform arena last gen, particularly Jak, Sly, and Ratchet games.

This does not seem good at all that a different studio is making Wii/PS2/PSP versions.
Who wants to bet that all three versions have roughly the same graphics?

It's all about the lowest common denominator...we learned that from the last gen games...slap on some anti-aliasing and call it "superior"...damn the gameplay.
Still...I'm encouraged by one thing that the Wii has going for it Namely, what the developer did with The Godfather: Blackhand Edition which made the game infinitely more playable, deep and fun. (Yeah, I LIKE choking the life out of my enemies....)

Well I guess that when it does
finally cross over, it will
suck hard, just like any other made for consol crossover game, simply because it was dumbed down.
Oh well.

I've accepted that some games simply should not be sent to PC. This *may* be one of them. Dead Rising (I'll never forgive MSFT for not sending that to PC!!!) should not be.
What does Dead Rising have to do with anything? Nothing. I just like zombie games, and think that Zombie and lightsabers are an obvious combination. HELLO?! GAME DEVS?! ARE YOU READING THIS?!
Piss on them if they don't take advantage of my brilliance.

Meh. A Star Wars game being developed by "Krome Studios"? Well, let's see what else Krome has developed:
* Championship Surfer, (DC, PS1, PC, 2000)
* Extremely Goofy Skateboarding, (PC, 2001)
* Barbie Beach Vacation, (PC, 2001)
* Sunny Garcia Surfing, (PS2, 2001)
* Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, (GCN, PS2, XBox, 2002, 2002)
* Barbie Sparkling Ice Show, (PC, 2002)
* The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius: Jet Fusion, (GCN, PS2, 2003)
* Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue, (GCN, PS2, XBox, GBA, 2004)
* King Arthur, (GCN, PS2, XBox, 2004)
* Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan, (GCN, PS2, XBox, GBA, 2005)
* The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, (GCN, PS2, Xbox, GBA, 2006)
Oh yeah, this won't be a cheap cash in at all.
And why is there so much excitement over the lightsaber duels? We've already had a sword fighting game on the Wii. It was called Red Steel. The duels sucked ass. Why do you think this will be any better?
Why do you think this cash in will be good at all?

Because Red Steel didn't map sword movements exactly, and only used canned movements, while this one is apparently going to do it properly?

I will happily await the release of the xbox 360 version which will feature excellent graphics, a far superior physics engine. Of course I will miss out on the "revolutionary" Wii controls which consist of flicking your wrist left or write to swing your light saber instead of pressing x. Amazing!
