Well to be more specific, I’m looking to buy a new 19 or 20in widescreen LCD monitor that supports 720p. The primary purpose of this monitor will be high ending gaming, and I’m looking for recommendations. I'd especially like to know anyone’s personal experience with particular products and brands in this class. My price range ceiling is approximately 300 USD, not counting any possible tax or shipping, but I could fudge that a little.

I enjoy my Dell 20.1", though Acer makes a 22" (both support 1680x1050) that usually sells for $250 or so. I think the Dell is of higher quality, but its also a lot more expensive (sometimes you'll see it on sale for $300-350; right now I think its $400), and has a smaller screen than the Acer.

I have two 20" 4:3 Samsung 204Bs side to side, at 3200x1200. They look great, and they have 5ms grey-to-grey. Horizontal wide-angle is pretty good, although the practical vertical viewing angle is lower than average, may be slightly noticeable if your head tends to bob up and down, like when using a TrackIR headset.

Now, you wanted a 16:10 widescreen monitor, and I think the sister-product to my 4:3 monitors would be the 20" Samsung 206BW, at 1680x1050, with 2ms grey-to-grey. Same type of LCD screen.

Note that it only has D-Sub and DVI inputs, no HDMI. But it's HDCP compatible, so all you need is a HMDI-DVI cable or converter. No Composite, S-Video, or Component inputs. This is just a pure monitor, marketed for gamers. If you need those extra inputs, then I'd say look at some Dells or something.

Newegg has them for $269.99, and if you're willing to send in the mail-in-rebate, you may even get the price down to $249.99

Thanks. Funny enough someone already pointed out that monitor to me, and do think its the one I'm going to get. Different imputs dont matter to me, my computer has duel DVI outputs and thats all I intend to use with this thing.
