Those of you that have one (a PS3) , I proclaim that you MUST purchase 'Dynasty Warriors - Gundam' if you are even remotely interested.

It is made of win, and the controls are great.

(And you can pilot The-O!)

.......how about making a better statement than that rather than "we must"?

Cause....well....it looks like every other dynasty warriors game I've ever seen...except with Gundams...

As a game that has been hailed with review quotes such as "
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam takes the worst elements of both franchises, and smashes them together into a dismally vapid action game." (Gamespot) and "Please, just don’t play this." (Game Informer), I'll be giving this one a wide berth.

Still, get Folklore, that's pretty nice.

I don't care enough about the various Gundam shows to buy another quick cash-in from Koei. God, how many of these games are they going to pump out? I know it's a quick buck, but geez, have some pride.

No thank you. Even if I did have a PS3, my thumbs are still too sore from renting and playing Dynasty Warriors on the PS2.

But I'm sure this glorified mod is actually good! Have fun jumping around in space!

The "mow through an ocean of enemy units" format of the Dynasty Warrior franchise has always struck me as looking rather boring and monotonous, and tacking on the Gundam property is ludicrous because there never really really have been any battle encounters like that.

As a Gundam fan, it just doesn't look inviting at all.

Gundam games have seriously been lacking in recent years, besides simply lazy efforts like this. They need to go somewhere beyond the experience of Federation vs Zeon DX/Gundam vs Zeta Gundam and Zeonic Front, much further in the arcade/simulator direction. Namco Bandai needs to concentrate on better games over simply more games.

Don't just blame Bandai. Blame the fans who will eat this shit up and ask for more please.

A good example would be MBS: Journey to Jaburo. It's one of the worst games I ever played. But there were still people (even on this board) who were actually recommending this game as a good PS2 purchase.

if it doesnt have heero yui i dont want to know about it

Seriously, I haven't seen a good Gundam game in years and I don't know why. It can't be that difficult to piece together something people would want to play, is it? Not with this franchise at least.

Well this IS the company that has released 3-4 PS2 x Warrriors games on 360. Making a new game = against their philosophy. :)

It has WZ and Heero. The only things I am disappointed in are lack of the GS/D Suits and CCA suits.

American review sites are usually the suck when it comes to niche games like this.

Famitsu gave it 33/40

The only good thing about Journey to Jaburo is that they used the engine to make Lost War Chronicle which is at least 3 times better. Also the Wii Gundam game (not the SD one) looked ok. It was basically Red Steel Gundam style and you could pick up any weapon off the ground after you blew something up which is kinda nice.

You mean the niche that will gladly gobble up anything remotely gundam related? Yeah, I guess the review sites don't pander to them.

I find it hilarious someone gave a glorified mod a 33/40.

And on that subject, why the "out of 40" system? Doesn't really make sense.

Japan hoards them jealously.

There was a Wii Gundam game?

That's a bit more like it. That direction, but less clunky and more refined and polished is what I'd prefer to see done.

Then again that game was something from around launch, wasn't it? So of course it was pretty rough.

But still looks more fun than whacking a bunch of drones that just mill about aimlessly on the battlefield.

I <3 Blue Destiny. The Wii game actually has Blue Destiny levels so I wonder if they had the old game in mind when they made the Wii one.

Another edit that should be made, DW: Gundam is on the 360 as well. You know, in case anyone cares.

Isn't this due out on the 360 as well? I think I got a demo disc with something for it on it... I'll have to check.

Dude, what did I just say? There's a freaking demo for it on XBL, the game's website says it's for 360. What more do you need? :P

I'm not a Gundam fan and neither is my brother, but he went ahead and bought it since we've been avid DW franchise players since trying out DW4 a few years ago. I thought it was pretty cool and fun to play.

I mean, some people call the gameplay "monotonous and boring" because of the "hack through an ocean of enemies" style, but I've enjoyed it since trying DW4 out.

It doesn't really matter if you're a Gundam fan (Since I'm not), just if you like the game engine. If you like the DW style of play, you'll enjoy the game, probably. If you don't, you won't. It's that simple.

And if you want to gripe on the proliferation of these games some more, consider Koei also recently released Warriors Orochi. Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors crammed together. The cover has Honda Tadakatsu and Lu Bu IIRC.

That's it. I'm modding my Wii to get rid of the bloody stupid regional encoding.

You mean region coding's back in on the Wii?...

Damn it, and after they kept that BS off the DS...
