i picked up 'pacific storm' from the bargain section today. it installed fine but when i try to start a mission it loads and then goes to the blue screen of death. i think it may be a problem with a driver but I'm not sure.


heres the minimal system requirements for the game

the problem is most likely the video card, although it'll run games like EAW on low graphics settings

Go to your desktop, and right click. Go to Properties. Go to Display. You should see the name of your video card in the Display box. Google it to find out it's properties.

The 504MB figure you gave for RAM leads me to believe that your video hardware is built into your motherboard and using 8MB of your RAM for video. Onboard GPUs like that generally suck and you've only got 1/4 the amount of video RAM the game requires. My recommendation is that you pick yourself up a dedicated video card and some extra RAM before attempting to play the game.

RAM is cheap these days and you can probably get a basic video card without spending too much, especially if you get it used, and they'll give you a fairly substantial increase in gaming performance.

I did a Google search for your model number and found that it uses PC2700 DDR SDRAM, so see if you can get the same type when you upgrade (most systems use DDR2 now so it might take some looking.) I wasn't able to determine whether your system uses AGP or PCIe for its GPU expansion slot, unfortunately, but considering its age I'm guessing it uses AGP, so keep that in mind when you choose a video card.

Based on the parts list found here it looks like no agp port for the motherboard, so you're likely out of luck in terms of graphics upgrades.
