Detect drives done: no any drive found

Am hoping someone can clarify this:
I've got an ASUS p5k motherboard and a maxtor diamondmax 160gb SATA hard drive connected together. I've built the system myself from scratch and new components, vista seems to have installed ok so far (still in progress) - but when it starts up, just after the BIOS option screen, it says 'detect drives done, no any drives found'. I've googled, but all I get is cryllic and french for the most part.
The drive is recognised in the BIOS, and vista seems to have installed ok, so what does the cryptic and badly spelt message actually mean?
EDIT: It comes up on a J-micron screen I think, but I'm not actually sure what that is - something to do with RAID? But I'm only running 1 HD, does that mean its safe to ignore?
