Call of Duty 4 question

So basically I stupidly upgraded to version 1.3 thinking this might hell with server timeouts (yes I know about setting the timeout time higher), and now I have a version which runs worse (never had a bug before this version, ever) and for which there are very few low ping servers.
So my question is this, does anyone know if I can save my profile, reinstall the game so its version 1.0, and still have that profile work? I’d really rather not lose my rank 55 awesomeness over this bullshit.

O_o Aren't the ranks stored on the server? Otherwise, you will probably find the local profile in Documents & Settings, or "Documents" in vista.

As it happened, I had a
problem with 1.3 myself, except it was much worse and I HAD to uninstall/re-install.
Fortunately, it doesn't seem to have nuked my profile(Make sure you click "yes" when prompted to save your profile during uninstall).

I am not familiar with the PC version of CoD4 but usually you should wait for another patch to fix this problem. It's silly, but I imagine most servers won't allow you to play the original version.
What happens at level 55 anyway?

What happens at level 55 anyway?
You can still play older versions online, it's just that there are very few servers still running the old versions. I tried finding a 1.1 Hardcore Sab/Dom game yesterday before patching, and pickings were slim.
And you have lots of cool stuff by level 55. The senior officer ranks can take awhile to chew through (I'm still a Brigadier) so one probably wouldn't want to go through it all again for the best perks and guns.
