CorelDraw like freeware

Does anyone know if some sort of CorelDraw-like freeware exists, which is also able open CorelDraw files?
The only suite I know of that can handle CorelDraw files is Xara, but only the Linux version is free.
Beyond that, there's Inkscape which is very much a work-in-progress (though it can import SVG's saved from CorelDraw). Not sure about others.
