Fucked Up Keyboard Problem

Post by Flagg »

Over the last 2 days I've been having issues with my "left" and "up" arrow keys. They work fine in applications such as WoW, yet in Firefox, IE and other programs that use Windows key settings, they don't function correctly.

When I press the "left" arrow I get this: "bnbbnbnb". Just a series of "b's" and "n's".

When I press the "up" arrow I get this: "\gh" and then it goes up to the toolbar.

Is there anything I con do to fix this? I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling it, and I've searched windows help, but nothing comes up related to changing the key settings. My asshole cat was sitting on the keyboard for who knows how long the other day, and I think that's the reason for this.

They "left" and "up" arrows on the numberpad work just fine when I have numberlock off, as well.

Have you first tried to use a different keyboard to see if its hardware related perhaps? I take it you are using one of those special keyboards that need drivers?

No, I haven't tried that yet, but I don't think it's hardware related as it doesn't require special drivers. In fact, there aren't any special drivers available for it.

Ok, I figured it out. I wasn;t uninstalling the right device so I could reinstall it.

The reason I assume you have a special keyboard is that you are talking about uninstalling and reinstalling. Generally, normal wired keyboards without anything fancy are detected and installed immediately without any problems.

That's what I thought too. I'm thinking your keyboard is fucked.

Try the keyboard in another computer and see if you get the same problem. Alternatively, try a different keyboard in your computer.

Other keyboards work fine, and this one works fine on my other computer.

By installing and uninstalling, I meant through the system tools/hardware settings/devices. Just unplugging it and then plugging it back in doesn;t do anything driver-wise.
