How can I disable Itunes from getting album covers?

Anyone know? I can't find it on the preferences, and it's annoying.

Preferences/general/automatically download album artwork.

The only check box I have there for this is one that reads "Automatically download missing album artwork." There's no general box to uncheck.

It's on the general tab. I described where it is: in Preferences, under the general tab, called blah blah. Just untick it: mine's unticked and I've never had iTunes get artwork.

I know what you mean, and I don't have that under my general tab. The only box that's similar is that one I mentioned, and it's unchecked anyway.

Are you using the most current version?

I sure am. Are YOU? I'm on 7.6.0.29, under Windows.

Exactly same.

What the goddamn hell?

So what does it do? Does it seek art when you add, or play new songs? I've never used iTunes' art finder.

Just starts seeking out the artwork automatically. It's annoying, especially if I add a lot of music at the same time.

I dunno why it won't get a sharper image of this, but, other than the color scheme, is this what you have?

That's messed up, I can't find any other options regarding artwork. Do you have one of those plugin/widget things? Some applets use iTunes to search for artwork, maybe you've got one of those somewhere?

Aside from your crazy blue colour, mine is the same. I have auto-update ticked, that's the only difference.

Heh heh, you said, "colour."

No widgets as far as I'm aware of. I also just downloaded and reinstalled it. Same thing. Crap.

Do you have an account with the Music Store? When I thought of using that option, it asked me to set up an account first.

I do. Also, I just looked at my laptops, and both of them have this same Itunes setting. I can't seem to disable this. What the crap?

Supes, I searched 10 pages deep with Google and only found other people asking the same question without any answers. :?

An old tried-and-true method of fixing wonky apps on a Mac is to delete the preferences file(s) and let the app rebuild them on the next load. I don't know if this would work for the PC version, but at this point, it might be worth a try. You will, of course, have to reset/reenter all of your preferences afterwards (which probably includes any eq presets you've saved, etc.).

The two places that I know of where iTunes stores preferences are:
C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml
C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml

EDIT: Another thing to try is to untick the "Automatically retrieve track names from the Internet" box in Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing. Probably won't fix your problem, but worth a try as well.
