LEGO Halo - or, screw you too, EGM

"Bungie takes Halo back to the building blocks"
EGM's April issue wrote:Halo 3's fight is over.
Finished, shall you say. Or is it? Of course not! Master Chief might be good at saving the universe, but he's better at something else: making mountains of money. That's why developer bungie is looking to construct some more cash with their newest project: Lego Halo.
Like Lego Star Wars, Lego Halo will let players relive the entire Halo trilogy - only with 100 percent more blocks. The move might seem strange to some, but to Bungie, it's a perfect fit...
..."Everyone on the team was so impressed with how well the Lego Star Wars games captured the magic of the movies," explains [Senior Project Lead Lee] Carlton. "We really feel like the Halo trilogy is as strong as Star Wars, and that's why we're excited to take our rich universe and present it in a way everyone can enjoy."...
Like Lego Star Wars, you'll play as multiple characters during the campaign. Master Chief will no doubt be the main brick breaker, but also expect to see Avery J. Johnson, the Arbiter, and even Chief's main virtual squeeze, Cortana. Just because Lego Halo chronicles the first three games, however, doesn't mean new characters won't be introduced.
"New characters are definitely something we plan to include in Lego Halo," says Carlton. "In one bonus mission, Master chief will be battling the Covenant with Burt-041 (emphasis mine - M), the brother of Kurt-051 from the Halo: Ghosts of Onyx novel..."
Obviously enough, this is an April Fool's day joke from EGM - I had an inkling from the moment I saw the article, but Burt-041 (4/1 in American month/day format) clinched it.
To tell the truth, I feel kind of cheated from seeing this. I love the Halo games, and I loved Lego Star Wars - and I would be truly inclined to grab a Lego Halo game on release day.
Judging from the response I've seen to this (fake) article elsewhere, the response to the idea of a Lego Halo game seems to be strongly positive - which makes it a real pity that we'll probably never see it made.
Then again, I could be wrong. Remember the "Sonic is in SSBM!" prank from a few years back?

Damn, I thought it was real too.
But yes, a Lego Halo would be quite awesome. Perhaps they're using this fake to test the waters and see what people's response will be to the idea.

A Lego Halo game is very unlikely without a toyline to back it up, and a Halo Lego line is pretty much out of the question. It doesn't appeal to kids and there are maybe three Halo vehicles you can turn into sets.

Funny, but doesn't top the almighty Mushroom Kingdom Hearts.

Ghost
Banshee
Wraith
Mongoose
Warthog
Pelican
that weird plasma-turret thingy
Heck, even a Longbow would be doable. Flick-firing nuclear missiles would be bizarre, but cool. ^_^
Keep in mind that they've marketed LEGO Star Wars sets specifically to older (as in, 25-years-and-up) LEGO collectors and a LEGO Halo toyline doesn't seem so out of the question...

Part of the SW line was targeted at adults, but the bulk of the sub-$50 sets were at least partially aimed at kids - or did you miss the cutesy comics in the back of the manuals
Ghost
Banshee
Wraith
Mongoose
Warthog
Pelican

Well, I stand corrected. It's still just a trickle compared to the sheer amount of ships in Star Warts, though, and I'm not sure if Lego'd want a subline that is that stylistically similar to Bionicle and Exo-Force.

It would be nice, given the humor of the lego lines.
As for EGM April Fool's? Nothing will ever top SF2's Sheng Long, given that it was enough of a rumor that Capcom of Japan made a character literally based on the crude EGM design. Not to mention truly fucked up looks when people TRIED to do it, and not realizing you can never have 10 fucking rounds. Ah, good times.

If Bungie and Lego know what's good for them, they should make this game for real.

Halo is too war-like for LEGO to make figures of.

You're thinking of Playmobil. Or you're being sarcastic and I'm being dense.

And a minigun.

That isn't "war" though because it's representational of hundreds of years ago, see.

And I suppose this isn't "war" because it's representational of hundreds of years in the future

It's not realistic enough, and it isn't based on a franchise all about war.
I don't write LEGO's policies, okay, I'm just telling you about them.

Actually, yes it
is a franchise all about war. It's LEGO's take on giant robot fighting - it even takes place on
Sentai Mountain, fer chrissakes.
Not to mention the robust and flourishing LEGO Star
Wars line...

Would have been a nice concept but for now I'll just wait for Halo Wars.

The fuck? You're the one who started making inaccurate statements. You don't get to say "Oh, screw you, you're idiots because you shot down my point!"

Ya right, Sentai which is a show about people in spandex shooting each other with ray guns.
When he get some Lego 'Nam sets with minifig Lt. Dan then we'll talk about Lego at war.

Darth Vader. In multiple versions, including seriously messed-up-looking "battle-damaged".
If Star Wars isn't too war-oriented for LEGO, then I can't see any reason why Halo would be.

Probably because Halo is more violent than Star Wars.
Really, look at what you're comparing. A mostly PG-rated, family friendly and kid accessible film franchise; versus a Mature-rated, combat oriented video game series.

Fisticuffs, choking, violent impacts, being assaulted with clubs by shrieking natives, being shot to death, lopped off limbs, lopped off torsos, decapitation, electrocution and being burned alive by volcanic ash isn't considered violent these days?
