There's a trailer of a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie on IGN today...looks freakin' awesome.

Well-made, I must say. I mean, for what it is.

Last I heard, Nintendo was in talks to bring John Ford and Sir David Lean back from the dead to direct this. Although, according to IGN that one isn't happening. I am pretty excited to see what he can bring to the table.

Hopefully, this movie is more successful that the Super Mario Bros movie.

I do remember seeing [REDACTED].

EDIT: I had to edit this due to a previously-existing NDA. Even if it paid well for PA work, NDA's suck.

Eh, color me cautious. I know there's some good material in the franchise, but I'm not sure they can properly translate the "green hat and tunic" to movie.

April Fool's, right? I mean, isn't that freaking obvious? It looks cheap as all hell.

Oh, it's real. The $200 / Day I got for being a PA on it says it's real.

Wow. Maybe they should've cut your salary and spent it on fancy luxuries like a recognizable cast, and non-crap VFX?

(no, really, you mean PA for that made-up trailer, of course)

If anything, it's good proof-of-concept. To me, at least.

Heh, I had to say watching the credits is "enlightening", some very interesting names on there.

Actually, those aren't the finished VFX in the trailer. I was over at the Rainfall offices, and Mike Barringer, one of the producers was fuming that Fox made them put the trailer out with the placeholder effects in it.

Fun fact: The Castle Town set was one of the largest outdoor sets ever built at the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City. The set designers did an amazing job on this movie. The 4-story set pretty much took over Culver City.

(OOC: I didn't PA the trailer either, I'm just making this up as I go.)

I wondered where the hell this thing was. I'd seen stills for it on certain imageboards but couldn't find the source.

It's kind of funny. We had these two actresses on set at one point, and the costumes department put them into the Goron and the Zora tunics, which was needed for this one scene.

Well, long story short, a bunch of photos of them leaked online. The producers went ballistic when that happened. We actually had to shut down production for a whole day, so that we could do damage control. Luckily, the entire internet wrote it off as two random cosplayers.

After that, they really cracked down. No cameras at all, the still cameras that we had on set were numbered and locks put over the memory card slots. Cameraphones, if brought, were confiscated and returned at the end of the production.

I honestly can't take this seriously for some reason.

so sad this is fake....

It's a awesome proof of concept..I like the Gannondorf and Zelda outfits though....

Ganondorf looked awful.

Nice to finally see the full thing, bits and pieces had been looming arround the net for months now. Better than LEGO Halo. Not as good as every Beatles song being available for Rock Band.

I have to agree: it looks awesome. Although the "every film made out of a video game will suck balls" law will most likely ruin it anyway.

Yeah, im guessing fake, mostly it looks too "Sci-Fi-ish" n terms of effects and productions. it looks "awesome" but not THAT awesome.

Whilst I'll say Duuuuhhhh to the first part, the fact that it looks cheaper than a supermarket pizza isn't what does it, that's par for the course for videogame adaptations, it's the fact that to have gotten to the point of a trailer without the entire internet being aware of it beforehand would require even a single person in Hollywood to keep their mouth shut for five minutes that seals it.

That's too bad too. I found it ironic that the guy playing Link has a passing resemblance for a young William Dafoe. Or am I alone in seeing it?

I thought it was impressive, for an April Fool's Day joke. Someone really went out of their way to put this together.

It was more than that. The company that put it together is an indie film group that are using it as a showcase. I think they just made an agreement with IGN for exclusive distribution and IGN used it for April Fools.

They took a generic fantasy trailer and slapped "Zelda" on it. All you need is some charming imagery of castles and villages, throw in an evil-looking dude, something about a prophecy/chosen one (who is merely a peasant) and some sound bytes where people use old English and use the preposition "of" a lot, and you've got a fantasy movie trailer.

Ick. Hero-type guy has no shield. It's not Zelda if the hero has no shield (Phantom Hourglass notwithstanding). Also, Ganondorf-type guy does look pretty bad.

Hero-type guy reminded me of Wacko Jacko, for some reason.

Anyone who thought that was authentic must be punished by watching this.

I wonder if they ever finished that thing
