Big Dog video that you HAVE to see!!!!

Check out this link. It's a DARPA project called Boston Dynamics Big Dog that I just found out about today in my robotics class.

The basic way it works is that instead of using all top-down processing, which leads to jerky and hesitant movement, it moves reactively.

This is absolutely stunning. For those of you who aren't familiar with current robotics, this sort of performance was unthinkable even 5 years ago. Now that the first hurdle has been overcome, I can't wait to see what shows up in another 5 years.
