EA has confirmed the price for Rock Band, following the European release date announcement this morning.
Europe, unlike the US, will not get all the instruments bundled together with the game.
Instead, you will have to buy an Instrument Edition at £129.99 - which comprise of the drum kit, guitar and microphone - then buy the game separately for £49.99.
Anyone after the whole lot will be looking to spend £180.00. That's is more expensive than in the US, where you can buy the game and all the instruments for $169.00 - which is the equivalent to £85.00.
Wireless guitars will be sold separately for £59.99, while the drum kit will be £69.99.
Hopefully retailers will be offering their own bundles.
Thats' fucking
insane
I don't know anyone that would be willing to cough up that much for a game, even if does have snazzy accessories.
Yay! Ninty aren't the only ones who hate us now!

What the christ? And I thought it was outrageous here.
If I'm spending that kind of money on a game it will be because I'm playing it with a hooker.

So wait, wait....are you seriously telling me, seriously implying that Electronic Arts, that paragon of virtue and purity, is being greedy, short-sighted, and foolish?
Say it ain't so, this revelation shatters my fragile worldview.
Seriously though, that really sucks you for lot on the far side of the Atlantic, I just hope that EA catches enough of a backlash to make them backpedal. They DID, after all, back off on the DLC weapons for Bad Company, so they're not incurably insane, just frequently insane.

Until the unlikely event that EA regains their sanity, there's a deal described
here which reduces the price to £132.98.

So let me get this strait, when you combine the cost of instruments and the game, it costs just as much as TWO US Rockband's do?

Oh noes peak rock band world in peril i is smrt

Anyway, this doesn't really surprise me. Once GTA4 is released, the hilariously mismanaged release of Rock Band is going to look even worse. Unless AU gets a release at the same time as EU, it looks like we won't get it until the game has been out for a full year. I hear it's supply problems, which is why they have plenty of stock in the US and are discounting it all over the place, lol.
Frankly, the very existence of 'localised track lists' mean I've been less interested in Rock Band anyway.

Besides, when Rock Band finally gets here, if it ever does, Australians probably won't be able to actually purchase it without spilling a couple of organs out on to the counter. And it will still cost three hundred bucks.

I figure it'd be easier and cheaper to actually learn a real instrument. Then, maybe, form a band and get a MySpaz web page. It's just one step away from triple platinum then, you can't lose!
