...or how I learnt to restrain my epic rage and not brutally murder the entire staff of "Couriers Please".
As I've mentioned, the wired connections on my old modem/router were fritzing a bit, causing me to not be able to get online on XBL. So I decided that it's cheaper to just buy a new router than get a 360 wireless adaptor and went ahead and ordered one.
I ordered through Digital Yes, got a fantastic deal (55% off) and paid for overnight courier delivery. Sadly, that's where it all went horrifically wrong.
You see Couriers Please fucked this up beyond all recognition. One look at the tracking for my package (it's no. 150702677916) gives you an idea of the level of EPIC FAIL achieved by these fuckers.
First they deliver it to the wrong person at the wrong address. I call them to ask about the fact that my parcel was signed for by a Charles, and to the best of my knowledge, no one knocked on my front door today, nor is there any Charles living here. I confirm my address with them. They say that if it was delivered to Charles, then that's who it was for and refuse to take responsibility. So I confirm that my address details with the sender were correct and I then get a call from the couriers saying: "our bad we'll fix it up." They then apparently "recover" the package and say that they'll get it to me the next morning (so much for paying for delivery that day). Again, I confirm my address details.
So I wait for the next morning and see that my parcel has been reallocated to another driver. And then another. And then after HOURS of waiting (which FUCKED my plans (after all, I'd wanted to get this delivered YESTERDAY then go and see Iron Man) I see that it's been returned to sender.
So I call the couriers (again) and they say that the reason it was returned to sender was drum roll please THAT THE ADDRESS DETAILS WERE INCORRECT.
After I had confirmed with the sender that it was correct not to mention confirm my address with the couriers TWICE!
They then tell me that they aren't sure that's the reason why (but it's likely apparently) and that it is up to the original sender to have it re-sent.
At this point I pretty much lose it. I have had two whole days wasted waiting for a delivery, I'm angry as hell over all the bullshit I've had to put up with and to top it all off, I'm now being told that my paid for overnight delivery will be at least 5 days coming (wouldn't be delivered until Tuesday assuming the sender re-sent on Monday).
So, an e-mail was fired off to Digital Yes, telling them to give me the full refund seeing as I didn't have the goods and have no intent of continuing that order - after all, I need the router before the weekend, not mid-next-week (hence paying for fucking COURIER DELIVERY) and head out to buy a router off the shelf for roughly twice as much as I had previously spent.
In the end I'm going to be chasing this up like crazy. I will be getting my money back from Digital Yes (they haven't gotten back to me, but have NO DOUBTS on that matter), I'm going to report mail fraud to the police in all likelihood (someone falsely accepting mail not for them or their household) and you can bet that I am going to the ombudsman if Couriers Please don't have a fucking good explanation for their shitty handling of the situation.
That said, I will be playing GTA IV online this weekend and be looking to burn a shitload of stress caused by this shambolic situation.
And if anyone in Australia ever wants to use a courier - DO NOT use Couriers Please.
