I have heard that Microsoft Word Documents can carry viruses
I know that html pages can contain worms

Curious if RTF documents can contain viruses?

If we're talking about Word macro viruses, I don't think RTF files can carry them. Given Microsoft's talents for botching up industry standard formats though, I wouldn't be surprised if they had added that "feature" somewhere down the line.

Indeed you can embed viruses into rtf files as a packager object, But I'm 98% certain there is no way for them to execute simply by opening the document.

edit: And worrying about what formats can carry viruses is stupid anyway, pretty much ANY binary file can have a foreign executable tacked onto it (I won't go into detail). So unless your going to MD5 every file you download, don't fret about it overly much and avoid untrustworthy sources.
