Do we have a SDN server for this? I'm just curious, I'm getting sick of playing with random idiots who think it is a good idea to hold their mic up to a stereo playing Rick Astley or some shit while spamming random nonsense and failing to STAY ON THE FUCKING POINT!
If we don't more people need to play this.

We don't have a server afaik, but we do have
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/SDN which can help you find SDN members that are playing.

You can mute the idiots, you know?
Also, I'll be nice if there was a server, but i doubt there are enough active players in the board.

Yeah I don't think I've ever seen more than three active on any game, much less all in the same TF2 server.

You have to dig, but there are servers out there that emphasis teamwork and actual communication. Find some with mature and active admins and the problem generally resolves itself.

Along these lines, just look around for locked servers with a lot of people, they usually have an URL there, check that URL, a lot of times the password is accessible to anyone who just registers on the forums, it's basically a way to weed out trolls.

I can't play any Source-based games until Nvidia gets their fucking act together and releases a stable driver that supports them. Release 169 was a huge disappointment.

Yes, one of my other forums does have one and it is usually a good place. But it is also usually full.

I had to use Nvidia Forceware 100.64 along with the latest service pack for Vista 32.

Yikes, that sucks. I'm running an 8800GT and WinXP and not having any problems with Source games. I can't remember what version of drivers I'm running, though.

I invest a bit of time into TF2. There are only a handful of servers I play on, but I found a lot of the annoyances ended once I turned voice completely off.
If I ever need to communicate with someone during a match the quick responses do the job just fine.

Eh I like to find a game with allspeak on(everyone can hear everyone's voice. Red/Blue Alive/Dead. But then again I thrive on the bitching of lamers.

I play, rarely at the moment but I do have the game. Just now I'm on a bit of a Bioshock/SoSE binge, but I've really whored the Source games in the past.

If someone's in the game to rickroll the server, I think it's safe to say that they won't be playing effectively

If someone sets up a server, we could have preferential (reserved) slots for members. I like playing with my friends outside SDN, and having a private SDN server defeats this. I may be able to set up a dedicated server, but I'd have to talk to the network admin here first.

I don't know what your problem is, but i doubt it's the drivers, i have a 8800gts and i ran the 169 drivers since they were released until about 3 weeks ago when i went ahead and installed the 174 betas, im also on XP and i had no problems what so ever on TF2, Portal, Episode 2, or any other Source game.

Jump into The Bar Room server, they are always allspeak, there's almost always admins on there and they'll kick music trolls and the like pretty fast.

That is one of the things that TF2 does spot on that few other games seem to.

Thankfully, the TF2 playerbase isn't as bad as many other games I've played online. Hell, out of all the griefers, the only reasonably competent ones (ROOMBA) were dumb enough to create a Steam Community which made banning all of the ones on our server easy once I identified one that was building teleporters and spraying porn at the exit.
I solve the issue with any other random idiots by either playing on our server (which has good admin coverage), other heavily admined servers, or liberal use of the mute option.
What really kills me are some of the "custom map" servers. As part of my "job," I find servers running potential new maps for our box. Some of those servers are just painful to game on.

I found a really good 2-fort server today. An annoying 13 year old came on, but after an hour and a half of playing, I was ready to leave anyways. But granted, most of the time, I find servers that are just okay, if that.

Hey, what is your server? I'm always looking for servers with good admins on.

Actually, what gets me is when you have that young kid on who is actually communicating and giving your team needed information, but his voice is so unbelievably annoying that you don't know whether to thank him for the info or beg him to shut up.

Then you get guys who don't like being killed....
I used the spy ability and backstabbed someone and got the nice courteous message of
"FAG, QUIT BACKSTAB"
Bollocks to that.

I just curse under my breath (or out loud, depending on the time of day) whenever I get back stabbed. Spys are a huge annoyance to me, but I'm not going to tell someone to stop playing them.

My biggest annoyance is when I get backstabbed when the spy is clearly on my screen and also on fire (I set him on fire). They must either be really skilled, or 'sploitin' a bug. But mostly spies are fine.
I can't play with you guys because I am in Australia!
